P: Performance issues - lag when using any filter or image adjustment

After updating to Photoshop 2021 there is a huge lag when I use any filter or image adjustment.

Animated zoom is no longer working.

Seems like a performance issue with in Photoshop.

I will be uninstalling the 2021 update and rolling back.

Next time instead of gimmicky filter updates how about just a stable update.

Ever other update has done nothing but cause problems and slow down my work!

@chad_rolfs It is architectual 3D rendering  composion image.

Image size : 860Mb, dimension : 4967x3508 px,  include 123 layers and 24Groups.

I've always been working on this size file with Photoshop since 1998.

In the 2022 version of Photoshop CC, this problem has been so severe that it has not been used for work at all.

There's something else to keep in mind.

It's different when I use adjustment layer. You can see that the delay is reduced a lot

Great video @CGdesigner72 - illustrates the sluggish update of the canvas after moving a slider.  How big is that document (both file size and dimensions; Height/Width in pixels and resolution) and how many layers?  Thanks!

@CGdesigner72 Could you update to the latest (22.1.1) and let me know if performance is any better?

You also mention above "Removing the tablet function from the window and using the tablet purely in Photoshop will solve the problem."  Can you clarify what you mean by that and what steps you took to do that (maybe provide a screenshot)?  Thanks!

@mischa_elbert , there was a separate issue that caused certain files to generate program errors, often on Save, which combining or hiding layers was a workaround. The January 2021 release of Photoshop (22.1.1) included a fix for that problem. I believe that is separate from the lagging issue; one user indicated tablet driver compatibility as a possible relation; anybody having issues that does NOT have a tablet? We are investigating.

Same problem for me. In my case the error happens as soon as I use layers that get transformed out of relation or distorted in perspective.

If I use such layers, I cannot save the file.

When I merge this layer with another one so I get a new pixel based layer saving is possible again.

This build is most definitely buggy.

Slow start up & random crashes. Can only roll back to v21 though.

Yes, the lag seems to mainly effect the sliders when using adjustments.

For me, it's not a tablet issue. I have the same lag when using a mouse.

The first thing I did was troubleshoot compatibility with my tablet.

Yes. I've wacom tablet. I've solved the problem with the tablet driver and I've been using it without any problems.

I think it was actually a compatibility issue between Windows and Adobe. Removing the tablet function from the window and using the tablet purely in Photoshop will solve the problem.
