P: Photoshop 22:0: Text selecting/editing UI not displaying in CMYK, LAB modes

When I select the text or try to edit some text in a CMYK file it doesn't show anything showing whether or not I selected that text.

I can edit normally, but without this information it gets a little complicated to know what I'm selecting or not

This issue seems to have resolved itself in PS 22.0.1

This issue should be fixed by the Photoshop 22.0.1 update.

To update Photoshop to 22.0.1, click "Update" in the Creative Cloud desktop app next to Photoshop. For help with updating, see Update Creative Cloud apps.

Just updated to CC2021 and the same thing has happened to me.  Disabling the Graphics Processor worked as a temp fix for me.  Would like to know when it's fixed tho.

Best thing to do is to uninstall the latest version and revert back to the previous version, as the "work arounds" have limitations such as poor graphic quality.

When editing a text layer there is no visual feedback or edit control. No bounding box for the selected text. No cursor showing the edit point. No highlighting of selected text, either the full layer or a selection of part of the text in the layer.

The adjustments work fine, but there is no way to see what has been selected for editing.

WTH.....this BLOWS Adobe....just upgraded, and nada, I mean compared to Covid this ain't sh-t, but we aren't asking for much. WE JUST WANT TO SEE AND HIGHLIGHT OUR TEXT !! Asking us to do these half-assed work arounds is, what's the word I'm looking for....(the word our author has chosen is not available in this country). It's snowing here in Massachusetts, I've got a lovely bottle of Mezcal, I'll do something else while you shuffle some more code around until you get it right.

I tried disabling the graphics processor and not only does it cripple PS but it only partly works.

The workaround I have found is to create an RGB doc and use the type tool to paste the default lorum ipsum onto it.

When you go back to your CMYK doc everything is tickety boo.

Same issue as others here - can’t select and edit text on existing text of files created and updated using updated software.

Can highlight text in layer tool but it does not update on screen. Switching off graphic processing work around has worked but not sure how that will effect overall performance of PS.

updated to 22.0.0 last week.

Me podéis ayudar?

Gracias y un saludo.

Actually, you just have to create an RGB doc.

@annelise atkinson and @Salim kassis please temporarily disable Preferences -> Performance -> "Use Graphics Processor" and restart Photoshop, our engineering team is working on a fix for this issue in the meantime.

Adobe Photoshop Version: 22.0.0 20201006.r.35 2020/10/06: 4587a1caa63  x64

Neue Version? - Nein, neue Fehler!

Text lässt sich nicht wirklich bearbeiten - nur blind. Man sieht nicht, wo man ist.

Auch das Pinselwerkzeug folgt seiner eigenen obskuren Logik

Abstürze...

Frustration!

Hi there!

After this last update, Photoshop 2021,  the text tool cursor and the text input box do not appear when the document is in CMYK mode... Anyone for an idea?

Thanks a bunch for your help!

OMG!!! FIX THIS NOW!!!!! I'm in the middle of creating and editing over graphics 300 files in preparation for printing. My computer just updated and now I can't edit text unless I change it over to RGB from CMYK. UNACCEPTABLE. I pay a LOT of money to you guys every month to have this tool.

Mine doesn't work in RGB mode either, and if I turn off Graphics Accelerator it breaks a bunch of other things including scrubby zoom. Going to try to install the old version. I can't work like this. Why are these updates lately so bad??

I agree completely. I'm probably going to change my Creative Cloud settings away from auto update apps to where every update has to be approved by me. I've already selectively done that with Illustrator due to a bug in an update that took away a critical functionality and broke a script that is used multiple times each day. (It seems as if Adobe develops from the perspective of high end graphics designers in big agencies and doesn't consider much the worker bees that use these apps to grind out volumes of images and who depend on reliable repetitiveness for their jobs.)

Hi all. I was having the same exact issues and became so irritated.  I went to Edit, Preferences, General, and then I clicked the RESET PREFERENCES ON QUIT.  I then restarted Photoshop and everything was good.  I hope this helps.
