Major facepalm moment and massive apologies!  We're working on getting a fix out ASAP.  In the meantime the workarounds are to either just disable and not use touch or disable the Spaces plugin by simply renaming it with a ~

If you disable the "Spaces" plugin then the crash goes away.
To disable rename the "Spaces" folder in Plugins to "~Spaces".
Change
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2022\Required\Plug-ins\Spaces
To:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2022\Required\Plug-ins\~Space
...

I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system.

If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html

You can install the previous version 22.x (v2021) and keep the current version installed so we can continue to troubleshoot: https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/using/install-previous-version.ug.html

When trying to navigate canvas with Cintiq, PS locks up.  I have to force close app.  After that I can't run PS. Only reinstall seems to work.

Does it crash out (disappears back to the desktop) or freeze, and you have to force quit?

I have to force quit.  Then trying to restart it gets stuck on the welcome screen a lot of times.  So I have to reinstall.  To be honest I am not even sure if it is only the touch functions of my tablet that cause it.  But last few times trying to pinch and zoom canvas did the app in.

To clarify the screen just freezes with canvas and tools open...just unresponsive completely.  Then I have to force quit.

You could try the big hammer and restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

After you do this, does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

I did delete the settings.  Restarted ok but once again it froze trying to pinch or rotate using touch on cintiq.

This is also happening to me on my Surface Studio 2. The moment I try to pinch to zoom or use two fingers to pan, everything freezes up and a crash error is generated.

So I turned off touch option on my tablet. PS seemed to work ok.  Then I closed the app, reopened it.  Tried one brush then upon attempting to switch brush PS choked...froze again.  So something is going on with latest update.

So this time it did crash but only when trying to close PS.  It just hangs.  I have to force close it.  Unfortunately it did not generate a crash report.

I have the same problem with my Surface Go. The previous version worked without problem when I use pinch to zoom, now it crashes whenever I try. I will need to reinstall the previous version. This is annoying, please fix it.

Hi,

I have the same issue, Wacom Cintiq Pro.

Trying using touch function on canvas and PS locks up, then it generted an error report.

I can not use touch function on new 23.0 update.

PS 22.5 works just fine with the touch function on the same PC configuration.

OS: Windows 11

Tablet: Wacom Cintiq Pro 13

This is happening to me too. Just updated and have now experienced at least 5 crashes within 30 seconds of starting Photoshop. Tried resetting preferences, and disabling third party plugins. No dice. I'm gonna roll back until this is fixed.

I'm not able to use Photoshop 2022 with touch gestures. Eg. zooming with 2 fingers. Just touching the screen with 2 fingers and  Photoshop crashes. Sometimes also when just touching the canvas.

Even resetting all doesn't help.

System is current Windows 10
