[WARN] WGudeRequest::applyAutoDetectProxyAutoConfigSettings Failed to autodetect proxy settings. WinHTTP Unable To Download Script. last error code = 12167

I'm having same issue. Everytime I open a file it creates a Gude.

Also, some stuff feels pretty heavy and laggy, like the Text tool. When I click a text layer, it takes a while for PS to actually select it and it takes a few seconds to open to edit it.

I downgrade photoshop to previous version 24.0.1, and all the annoying stuff stopped happening. So it makes me thing it's something with the new version 24.1 version.

This is the text in my GUDE file (no idea what it means):

I wonder if Adobe even looks at these bug reports. So far, I haven't seen any developer/QA replies confirming the issue or a

specific fix/workaround.  That this issue has cropped up before and still exists, months later, is discouraging.

Been running Photoshop fine and i've never run into this issue before, until now.

Not sure if it's the 24.1 release the other day, or, the fact i've updated to W11, or a mixture of both?

Some of the replies here indicate people haven't had issues until 24.1 - So i'm guessing thats whats causing the issue for me too.

I took notice of this problem well before 24.1 came out, and I was far far from being the first. It has been an issue for several months. It seems to take a long time for problems to get the notice of the Adobe engineers. I am using Win 10 and I don't think your switch to Win 11 has anything to do with it. The problem with this much of a delay is that I now have several different folders that are peppered with these useless files and it will take a while to find them all and delete.

@Bruce AB In File Explorer, select your C drive and from the search box, type .**gude to find them all. I don't advise deleting every file just yet, however, unless you are certain which ones are not needed.

I'm trying to think of a reason why any gude log file would be needed. Perhaps Adobe needs to clarify that.

@Bruce AB Sure, the .log files can be deleted without consequence, unless you want to refer to them for some reason. But if you search for all gude files using .**, which is what I suggested in order to quickly find all gude files, then the results can include other gude files, such as gudeDB.sqlite. And the user may not want to delete that file. Make sense?

Hello everyone

Same issue at my side
Windows 10 Pro 22H2
PS updated at last version - currently 24.1

When double clicking to some image file to Open via PS it makes a Guid log file.
However if you open the PS first then it will not create any Guid log file.

The workaround/solution did not work, in fact it made Photoshop more unstable.

In the end the only way to stop the instability was to unistall Photoshop and then re-install it.

I've found this is probably the only way to make Photoshop work.

matteou18257413, I think it means the bug hasn't been fixed yet!

I suggest contacting the Technical Team, they should be able to give you chapter and verse on what is happening inside Photoshop.

The error that Photoshop 24 again spits out gude.xxx files is not just Adobe alone. It is an interaction with Windows 10 or 11. However, the trigger has changed since the update to PS24. In PS23 I was able to prevent the creation of gude.xxx files by switching off the automatic search for a proxy in Windows 10/ 11 (Settings/ Network and Internet/ Automatic proxy setup: OFF). In PS24 I also had to uncheck Add-on modules/Aeletre Extensions are allowed to connect to the internet.
One more request: Please describe your observations in a little more detail - operating system build, versions and performance of your computer might be helpful.

I've already given the Windows 10 build - however the Laptop & Windows build are in the Screen shot.

Spec & Windows Build.jpg

Which problem do you want described in more detail? - the crashing after Jeff Transberry's part 2 or the generation of the guid error? - For the the latter I've no idea what the steps are - having posted the giud error messages can't you work it out from that?

Sorry not to be more helpful.

Set up a new pc and the issue happened for the first time ever since.

What solved it for me was downgrading the PS version from 24.1  to 24.01

The original troubleshoot at the start of the thread (uncheck gpu, delete presets) didn't work for me.

I am currently having the same problem.  It just started within the last two days (12/21/22).  Looking for a solution just says that it will be fixed with the next update, but those posts were from a year ago.  This is going to get out of hand in a hurry.
