Hi Everyone,

The issue with printer dialog settings not being sticky was resolved in 19.1.2. The second issue, that the printer dialog appears low res/pixelated, was more complex to solve and will be resolved in 20.0.

Thanks for your patience.

There is a related problem - when using the print dialogue to specify a border for the print, the border disappeared. I think this was with update to 19.1.1. I have now updated to 19.1.2 and there is still no border on the print.

Does this fit under this thread, because it is all part of the print dialogue, or should I open a new one specially for it?

This issue with the borders has been a problem for me . Discussion in the forum under the heading ‘Black Borders’ refers.
I am also finding that the orientation when trying to print is regularly jumping to ‘portrait’ when ‘landscape’ has quite clearly been set.

Hello.
Very strange behavior of print dialog.
I print on many Epson large format printers.
From PS19.1 I see a problem with print dialog.
Now I install PS19.1.2 & what I see:
As example I try to print a picture 1x1 metre.
If I try to print to Epson from computer directly to printer, I see only one problem: Low resolution preview.
But, if I try to print to same printer & use printserver the neighboring computer I see very strange situation.
I make all print setup such as format(dimensions) and others. I see print preview with low resolution. After that I press "Done" button. After that I press Ctrl+P. And now I see that format change to A4(default) but print preview is high resolution. I see only a central  part of my picture to A4. I see "position" in "Photoshop Print Settings" dialog. "Left" & "Top" have big minus. I see only small central part of my picture.
After that I press button "Print Settings..." in "Photoshop Print Settings" dialog. I see Epson printer properties. I do nothing & press "OK" button. At this moment print preview changing from A4 to correct format. "Position" changing to correct numbers.
I see high resolution print preview!!!
I press "Done" or "Print", after that I press Ctrl+P & I see A4 with crop of my picture in high res again...

I'd just like to add my voice to Stephens and ask if we could have some feedback on this.

Running on Win 10 with the new April update and Photoshop is updated to 19.1.4. I am revisiting this thread because nothing seems to have been fixed on my end. Working in a professional environment this is nothing but frustrating when I am trying to print in a timely manner. I've wasted a lot of paper and ink because the print size keeps defauling back to 8.5 x11 even immediately after I have just printed a file.

For example this morning I printed a 2UP of 8x10s on a 13x19 sheet  on our Epson P9000. The client called and upped the order to four. I still had the file open in Photoshop, so I hit Ctrl+P and print. Unfortunately I forgot to click on print settings to enter the Epson settings and reload the correct paper size back into the Photoshop Print dialogue. What I ended up with were two small prints that fit into an 8.5 x 11 sheet.

I've never had more trouble with the print dialogue in any previous version of Photoshop than I am having with this one.

Tomorrow is June 1st and this bug still persists.  "Waring Rant starting"

I Print every day, but I have yet to find more than one opportunity to use the new Select subject.
Again  New features are cool, but never at the expense of  core functionality.

I was an advocate of the cloud features from before it was called the Creative Cloud, but  this trend of pushing fresh new tech before it's ready, the smoke and mirrors of Adobe MAX showcasing amazing results that never work as advertised when they finally make it into the program, and used as a marketing hook when core functionality is left broken is wearing on me.

Photoshop tells me it is now at 19.1.5 and CC tells me it is up to date - and the problems are still there.

I'm experiencing similar printing issues.  The "border" function is inoperable for the last six months and the print dialog displays incorrectly, not retaining the last setting.  Problem exists on multiple local printers and all files.  Running 19.1.5.  Problem appeared with March 2018 update. Reset preferences no change. Any suggestions welcome.

I'm beginning to think that only a complete remove and re-install will solve this problem for me.  Is there a resource that will instruct me on this procedure?

Peter,
sorry to have to break the bad news, but a complete reinstall will not fix this.
I concur with several of the previous posters when they say that core functionality should never be a casualty in the process of adding new features.
In the last two surveys Adobe sent me I have added that I could not recommend this product to anyone I know until they start fixing these long standing issues.
It is notable that when the software was released as stand alone products in the days before CC we never did seem to suffer this level of poor performance and bugs which never got fixed.

Thanks for your reply, Alfred.  Surely this problem can't be afflicting all PSCC users. There'd be a viral groundswell of anguish.  A malfunctioning print dialog is intolerable for Photoshop, so it must be unique to my system (and yours, too?)  I asked my photographer's forum (Luminous Landscape, mostly PS and LR experts) and nobody had heard of this problem.  Have you communicated with Adobe on this?

Unfortunately it probably doesn't affect all Photoshop users, and some who are affected will print from other programs (Lightroom, etc) to get around these problems. In my case, the print preview image is very blurry/pixellated - rendering it useless for softproofing purposes. I have been asking for a resolution to this for 9 months now, but they don't even bother to communicate with us.

Peter,
look back through the thread and see my comments and others too, also look at Hannahs (she is the Adobe official rep.) reply to me. She said the pixellated image in the print dialog was a more complex issue and would be dealt with in a later update, that was 5 months ago. Also I use both Windows and Mac OS and see this issue in both.
I also think there are far more users with this problem than the posts would suggest. I also believe that if more users knew how to find this forum there would be more posts, I searched around for quite a while looking for a site where I could feedback these issues before ending up here.

Hi Stephen,

I believe the last stable version of photoshop I used was cs6.

I'm not seeing the pixellated preview image that others are reporting, but I do see an irregular presentation of the preview.  The preview image is displaced in the viewing window in X and Y directions.  This is resolved by re-loading the print dialog.  It seems like the live link between the print dialog and PSCC and the "borders" function was broken by the March 2018 release.  I agree with others in that Adobe caused this problem with the upgrade and are being very slow to fix it.  Not what they promised when they introduced CC. 😞   Windows 10, BTW.

Hi Peter, looks like this has fallen off the charts, no feedback from Adobe for 9 months gives me no confidence this will ever be fixed.
There should have been a new features freeze untill they fixed all the reported Issues.

Hi Pete,
it's been 9 months since my initial post on this issue, and 6 months since we had any official feedback on this. What is the current status.
Are there any solutions to this going forward.
What can we expect in the forthcoming updates.
