Print dialog box always opens at top left corner of screen and when maximised does not retain settings on next use. The print preview is also low res and pixelated.

Hi Everyone,

The issue with printer dialog settings not being sticky was resolved in 19.1.2. The second issue, that the printer dialog appears low res/pixelated, was more complex to solve and will be resolved in 20.0.

Thanks for your patience.

That' I'm also seeing, and I'm glad to see it confirmed. I'm on a Mac running El Cap, and my printer is Epson. I'm not seeing your problem with where the dialog box opens, but it is only retaining information in the files. The settings aren't "sticky." We seem to go back and forth with that in various versions, and I've wondered if it's Adobe or Apple and the drivers. The low res, pixelated view is something entirely new here.

If you'd say what OS you're running, that might help them think of where to look for the culprit.

Okay, forgot to say, I am running Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6 on an iMac, and my printer is an Epson SC P600. My friend is also seeing the same problem running Sierra on a MacBook pro with the same printer.

I have seen the same.  El Capitan with latest updates.  Compared to PS CC 2017 the image is very poor.  When they updated PS what happened here I wonder ?

I can confirm these issues as well on Windows 10. There is also a lot  of strangeness if you have any adjustment layers in the file you want to print.

It seams with every new update or bug fix one problem is resolved and more pop up that are so unrelated to the added features and other bug fixes it's been very frustrating. We're on the 3rd or 4th update to the current version and I find myself  going back to 2017 because I prefer stability and consistency of operation over the new features.
I really love having Brush smoothing, the new Brush panel organizing, and am looking for some opportunity to use the new AI based Subject Select,

BUT  I cannot emphasize enough to Adobe that Professionals need stable software over new features!

I concur Douglas,
I have tried PS 2018 version 19.1 on an old installation of Windows 7 and it exhibits the same problems.
I am also currently running 2017 as the most recent stable version.
At next survey I shall be indicating that I would definitely NOT recommend PS CC to anyone else. Not until Adobe begin addressing the obvious problems revealed in this forum.

Hi Everyone,

To any of you seeing this, would you mind sharing a screenshot of what the dialog looks like on your end?

Thanks,
Hannah

Also what changes are you making to the dialog that keep reverting to default?

Here is a screenshot of the Print dialogue showing the degraded image.  You will note that although the image in the background shows an oversized (A3) paper background the driver has defaulted to A4.  With PS CC 2018 19.1 it always does this and will not retain the paper settings assigned.  Other settings are similarly not retained.  With PS CC 2017.1.1 this does not happen.  Clearly there is something seriously amiss here.

I'm having the same problem with lo-res, pixellated print preview on Photoshop CC 19.1.0 on Windows 10. I have tried disabling graphics processor usage but no change. Lightroom appears unaffected. Printer driver dialog box is not retaining some settings in 'Favorites'
Cheers

Okay, after latest update to PS CC 2018 19.1, the print dialog box is retaining settings after maximising, however, the preview is still low res and pixellated. Screen shot attached.

I was just wondering if there has been any progress on this particular problem?

Hi Alf,

Thanks for the report and the screenshots. I opened two cases based on this thread - one regarding the UI of the print dialog and one regarding the settings reverting. So it is now in progress.

Thanks,
Hannah

This issue of print settings not being retained/remembered should be fixed with the Photoshop CC 2018 (19.1.2) update which is now available.
Please install the update and let us know if you still see this issue.

To update, click Update next to Photoshop CC in the Creative Cloud desktop application.
If you don't see the update right away, click the 3 dots in the upper right and choose Check for App Updates.

Regards
Pete

Hi Pete,

looks like one issue has been fixed, the retention of settings in the print dialog, but the low resolution image in the print preview window not fixed.

Regards

Yes that's correct, Alf. The pixelation issue was more complicated and will be addressed in a later release.
