Try starting another Adobe application like Adobe Bridge, then go back to Photoshop and see if the Menu bar works.

Starting Bridge unfreezes Photoshop but editing one image in Camera Raw immediately freezes the Photoshop menus again here.

If it helps with diagnosis, I find I can open one image in Camera Raw and return to Photoshop without menus freezing but a second image will freeze the menus every time. It makes no difference whether I complete the edit in Camera Raw with 'open' 'done' or 'cancel'.

Bonjour,

Aidez moi svp

Je suis sur MAC.

Merci

This problem is happening again.  Top Menu bar, no responses.  I am running on Mac OS Sequoia.  I de-installed the PS software, saved my preferences, re-installed 26.1.0 then restarted PS.  The issue continues.

Hi, having the same issue where the menu freezes after using liquify but navigating away from photoshop and then back doesn't seem to fix it. Restarting photoshop is the only fix I've found.

Just adding that I'm using the most up to date 2025 version of photoshop

Quick Fix:

Simply press Command + Shift + A to reopen the Camera Raw Filter. Once it opens, close it by clicking Cancel or OK.

The top menu will now work again without needing to force quit Photoshop.

That doesn't work.

I went through all the steps to wipe out all thing Adobe and reinstall which did fix the problem but then they updated Camera Raw.  Now it's back to not allowing me to use the Photoshop menu bar after being in Camera Raw.  Removing preferences DOES NOT fix this problem.

Please find a viable solution as this is beyond irritating to have to CTRL S to save then completely close Photoshop.

I am also having this problem. It makes the program completely unusable. Upon being opened the program works as normal. After a few minutes of working this problem occurs. Trigger unknown. I am in an endless loop of quitting and opening again just to do 2 more minutes of work. Rinse and repeat. A massive bug.

I will try manually resetting my preferences. None of the other usual fixes have worked – computer restarts, program updates, etc.

Manually resetting Photoshop preferences did not fix it.

Can someone help? This is a nasty bug.

To ber super clear, Photoshop tools (such as those down the left bar) and ability to use shortcuts works. But the entire top bar (File, Edit, etc.) beomes unclickable. To my knowledge some things simply don't have shortcuts so I am forced to restart each time this happens (roughly 2 mins into running Photoshop). At first the bar appears blurry. After minimising and returning to the program the blur is gone but it is still broken.

It's becoming ridiculous that three months and several updates to Photoshop later we are still left with a bug which renders Photoshop unuseable for anything more than a single image at a time. I've used Photoshop since the introduction of layers and have never known anything as bad as this.

This is starting to look more like a standoff between Adobe and Apple.

I'm starting to wonder if there isn't an agreement between Adobe and Apple to encourage owners of Macs with Intel chips to switch to a Mac with Apple chips!

Hello,

I would like to report a persistent bug in Photoshop that has been present across several versions.

Currently, I am using Adobe Photoshop (Beta) version 26.3.0, but I have also experienced this issue in the stable release of Adobe Photoshop.

Here are my system details:

  • Computer: MacBook Pro (2.6 GHz Intel Core i7, 6-core)
  • Graphics: AMD Radeon Pro 5300M (4 GB) and Intel UHD Graphics 630 (1536 MB)
  • Memory: 16 GB 2667 MHz DDR4
  • Operating System: macOS Sonoma, version 14.6.1

Description of the issue:
After using the AI feature for background extension, the main Photoshop text menu (File | Edit | Image | Layer, etc.) becomes unresponsive. Clicking the menu does not display any submenu options, rendering it unusable.

Please let me know if further information is needed.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

ok, I think I found a trick to unlock photoshop menus. After opening camera raw and going back, I clicked on the "library" item in the right panel and the menus magically unlocked... or before starting camera raw go to "library" and once you go back the menus worka.png

I tried to reply earlier but my post didn't appear. Trying again.

I can confirm that as long as the libraries palette is visible the menus remain working here. This is the first significant step forward.

the "library" panel just click once to unlock the menus, then you can go to any other panel and everything works correctly

I've found that as long as Libraries is made visble once per session either upon starting Photoshop or after a freeze, no further freezes will occur in that session. I can open further images normally without Libraries being open.
