P: The generative fill in Photoshop 26.0.0 is definitely worse than in previous versions.

The quality has dropped to an unusable level. Textures that were rendered beautifully in previous versions now sometimes appear smudged or as if painted in with a brush. There are far more nonsensical fills—like birds randomly appearing in hair or clothes, and extra hands in bizarre places when the image already has two! It’s like AI gone wrong. What happened to quality control? How does the AI actually get worse? This is beyond frustrating.

To make things worse, the newest update deleted my older versions, even though the "delete older versions" checkbox was unchecked. It's incredibly frustrating to lose those versions without consent.

Came here because of all the same issues.. selecting a white tshirt and prompting "black tshirt" and the results were no tshirt at all.. replaced with bare shoulders. Do better adobe. You just raised all our monthly fees on our subscription for what? Faulty products 👎

no one noticed because we were too busy resetting preferences three times a day and turning off annoying popups. Adobe should just release a new app. Introducing Adobe Pu: Integrate all your pop-ups into one app!

I tried to use generative fill to remove a person from a group photo. It ends up just adding a stranger to the photo and not completly removing them.

The last version actually change at least 20 pixels away outside my selection. This makes the generative fill so bad. I want it back so it only changes eaxactly within my selelction.

I confirm the issue. The generative model in the latest PS 26.2 still performs worse than in version 25.x. For example, when entering the prompt 'bald head,' the latest model might generate a hat instead, which the previous version does not.

PS v.26.2:

PS v.25.12.1

@CMass , @MeredithStotzner ,

By the way, did you know, guys, that placeholder text isn’t meant to be interacted with? Users shouldn’t be able to select or copy it. It’s not a big deal, but it does reflect the low quality of your software development.

26.2 did not fix the texure bug... it is STILL UNSTABLE, the problem continues to magnify since you rolled out these last three updates. Please go back to what you were doing before. One has to wonder why X has better AI than adobe

Nothing has been fixed or changed. Generative Fill is unable since PS version 26.0

The last update this morning did not solve anything. Generative AI fill is still so bad compared to the one in the previous version (Photoshop 2024).

Adobe are u there ? 5 more days before Xmas, wake up.

Bumping this to point out that there has been silence on this thread from Adobe for 20 days now. That makes those annoying "update" popups that we are now dealing with especially insulting.

Can we expect some communication about progress with this issue from Adobe?

I completely understand your frustration; the quality issues you mentioned are incredibly disappointing. Smudged textures, nonsensical fills like random birds or extra hands, and other glitches definitely shouldn't be happening. It's surprising to see such a drop in quality—it feels like a step backward for the AI.

As for losing your older versions despite the "delete older versions" option being unchecked, that’s unacceptable. I’ve faced similar situations, and losing work without consent is beyond frustrating. The developers really need to prioritize quality control and ensure such mishaps don’t happen in future updates.

Hopefully, the developers address these problems soon!
