PC restarts after loading a picture

Hello,

Every time I load or open a picture in photo shop my pc instantly shuts off and restarts. Below are some of the things I've tried so far. I've only used photoshop once before this not even a month ago and it worked fine.

I updated all my drivers, even tried some older ones on my gpu.

I have tried turning off the grahpics procceser.

I've tried turning off my Ram xmp profile.

Some pc specs:

Windows 10

19-9900k

32gb DDR4 RAM

2080 super GPU

2tb samsung 860 as main drive

photoshop version is 24.4.1

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

Thank you for the updated info @Drumbeast7 a couple things to try:

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and enable “Older GPU mode (pre 2016)” - Restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?

Hello Cory,

I tried the older graphics card option and it is still crashing. I tried running adobe on another computer I have that is older and even though the card was not compatible, it still worked. I took that card and swapped it into my pc and it still crashed so I'm just gonna take a guess my gpu isn't the problem. I've been reading that it could be defective ram so I ran a ram stress test with memtest86 and after letting it complete 1 pass it showed no errors. one last thing I tried was reinstalling photoshop and it finally opened but everytime I went to use the selection tool or moved my picture around it would once again crash.
