When creating a PDF in Photoshop version 24.7, the file is not able to open after a few hours. We tried updating to the newer version (25.0) but the file doesn't seem to open.

The error message shown is;

Couldn't open "file_name.pdf" because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop. The file is created in this exact version (24.7)

OS is Windows 10.

Same issue here. Opens fine as a PDF and shows the Photoshop version it was created in as v25.3. Our photoshop is v25.3.1 so should be no problem. Second time I've had this issue. It needs a fix asap Adobe! Now having to recreate the PS file from scratch...

Braiden, not yet. I haven't had the energy to deal with support again. Every support chat I've had has disconnected before resolving the issue. I'm not sure what's going on there.

Have there been any updates on a resolution for this issue?

Okay, I tried to contact support about this issue and I don't know what is up today, but I was connected with no less than FIVE agents, one of which transferred me because his shift was ending, and the other four who disconnected the chat. The first one disconnected without even speaking to me. The others I chatted with for some amount of time, but whenever we reached a certain stage in the chat, it was disconnected without further explanation or resolution of the issue.

So, this issue still remains unresolved and I am getting beyond frustrated. I'd spend the time recreating this PDF if I had to, if someone would just tell me what the problem is with the file (did I save it incorrectly? Is there a setting in the PDF dialog that I screwed up? I wouldn't be surprised if the issue was my fault, but I can't correct it if I don't know what I did wrong in the first place).

I dont know why this error message is all of a sudden coming up in Photoshop, but it was never as issue before - Saving a PDF file from Photoshop, then I open it again and get this message... Super annoying!

Alyssa,

No, this has not been resolved yet. I've tested this on the two desktops that I have Photoshop installed on (Windows 11 and Windows 10) and in both cases, Photoshop is unable to open the PDF. Thankfully, I started this project early and still have time, but I think I'll have to open a help ticket because the community experts don't seem to be very responsive.

Has this issue been solved? I am having the same problem with 25.3. I have been working on a file for multiple days and have been saving it locally. Suddenly today I get a "Couldn't open "file_name.pdf" because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop."

I'm having this exact same issue and I'm saving locally (not to the cloud or any network server). I created a new PDF file yesterday for my next novel cover, but a couple of hours later when I went back to make some edits, it's no longer compatible. I have both Photoshop 2024 (25.3.1) and the Photoshop Beta (25.4) installed and I tried on both with no luck.

This is frustrating because I need to make changes to the file and I'd rather not spend another 2 hours redoing all the word I've already put into this.
