PDFs no longer compatible with Photoshop

I've been using Photoshop as normal but for some reason if I save a photoshop PDF then close the file, I am unable to reopen it again. An error message will pop up saying that this document is not compatible with this version of Photoshop. I am currently on photoshop 2024 but I tried going back to 2023 and I'm running into the same issue. My computer is fully updated with windows/firmware/etc. and meets the system requirements to use photoshop.I've tried having other people open the files on their computers and they also get the error. I can't use photoshop if every file I close becomes a stuck as soon as I save. Has anyone had a similar issue or know how to solve this?

I am also having the same issue. I've tried messing with all the PDF saving settings in Photoshop but, nothing seemed to work. Trying to keep the layers separate but all I'm getting is a non-editable image.  : (

Iam having the same issue. In Photoshop 2024. I created several files in this version of Photoshop. All are ok except for one. It tell me it's not compatible with this verion. How can that be, when I created it with this version. I saved them all the same way. I was able to recover it in Illustartor, but I lost all my layers. It defeated the purpose. It did'nt do this in photoshop 2022. I recently upgraded. Now I'm having issues. This is the second time this has happened since Ive had this version. I cant keep losing work like this.

3/21/2024 and I am surprised that there is no fix for this. I have the same issue and it really sucks to have to sacve extra versions of a file so you can open it again later. Alot of work lost.

January 2024 Update-

Still no fix. I ended up losing a lot of files to this bug. Tried opening them on other people's computers and they also got the error. My work around now is just to save everything in psd format and do a save as anytime I need a pdf. This is clunky and now I'm stuck with keeping track of multiple files when I used to be able to have everything saved in one. So annoying.

This same problem has persisted. It's now December, and Adobe still hasn't fixed this. I've looked online for a solution and there are tons of people reporting this problem, but solutions are sadly lacking. Adobe- this needs to be addressed.

It is still happening. Lesson learned. I just screwed myself out of weeks worth of work thanks to Adobe who just can't get anything right these days. This happened immediately after I saved the file and preserve photoshop editing was checke.d This is ridiculour Adobe!

I've rolled back to 24.7.1 and it was working ok but then two weeks later, I had issues openning the actual software. So I had to re-install the updated version 25.1 but the problem "(filename).pdf is not compatible with this version of Photoshop" came back with it. So nothing's solved here.

@Mathieu33316940mwp2 which version number worked for you? I have the same issue but I try rolling back to previous versions and none of them seem to be able to open my layered pdf.

Monday 30th Oct I last worked in this file, and saved it as usual. Always maximize compatibility when it asks. It still shows in the "recent files" when I open Photoshop.

Monday 6 Nov is when I first opened it and it gave me the "not compatible with this version" error. Happy to know I'm not the only one with this issue, hope there will be a fix soon.
