P: PS v24.2 update fail on Mac M2 - error 183 <edited-kglad>

Photoshop update to v24.2 fails on my M2 Mac mini and then corrupts my currently installed version (it does not open and displays error saying elements of the app are missing). I had to reinstall v24.1.

Hey Kerry, i do not know when exactly but Photoshop v24.3 it's available at least since yesterday and it's working fine on Mac M2 without rosetta.

if you are trying to install photoshop from Creative Cloud Website, just close your browser and open Creative Cloud Dektop app, try to install photoshop from there

maybe the link on creative cloud website prmpt you to v24.2 installation, don't know.

I am seeing the same issue/error with Adobe Photoshop 24.5 and 24.6 Universal (and Silicon) when generating a package installer via AdminConsole for an M2 install.  Only solution that worked was using 24.1 (I didn't try any other version since I saw someone post and another person verify that 24.1 worked for them)

@Kerry Jr

do you have a current question?

I was trying to install it from the Creative Cloud app on MacOS ventura and it fails at 90% during installation and Adobe support told me to just install the last (older) version of the app. I understand that is a work around but I have a hard time paying for something that doesn't 100% work. Thanks again for your help 🙂

I see my post has been merged...

Anyway, firstly let me thank you for your suggestions guys! Secondly, my issue got solved by installing a fresh new Photoshop via the CC app, which overwrote 24.2, shows 24.3, and correctly syncs to the CC app. Cmd+R repair option didn't help and the option to repair via the uninstaller app as suggested brought up the rosetta dialog, installing which is exactly what I have been trying to avoid in the first place.

If there are others who want to avoid rosetta for now, this worked for me. Mac still clean of emulation layers. 🙂

Hey Roman, that's a different issue
Sounds like your Creative Cloud Desktop app it's not synced with your device.
Follow @kglad  steps and you should resolve.

in case those steps does't resolve, you can also try using our cleaner tool to remove Creative Cloud app installed on you device:
https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/cc-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html

just be sure to reboot your device after uninstalled the app in case you will use the CleanerTool
after the reboot just try with a new installer from here:

@roman.k

reset the cc desktop app by making sure it's in the foreground, then press:

Win: Ctrl + Alt + R
Mac: Cmd + Opt + R

if that fails, repair per https://helpx.adobe.com/download-install/kb/creative-cloud-install-stuck.html

Hi Nigel, nice to hear we have a fix. Could you please find out for me (the OP) what the correct procedure is my case?

Installed and working version: 24.2.0

Not showing as installed in Creative Suite App

In other words the Suite App gives me the option to install, but is not aware of it on the system, so no uninstall or update is available. I have no idea how this happened. I'm on a brand new Mac Studio and haven't done anything special.

I would like to get it back in order without leaving any orphan files scattered around the system.

Thanks! Roman K.
