Went through Creative Cloud (which I don't normally use) and re-installed Photoshop from there. Now it works. It looks like there's been an update.

Was Photoshop work and close normally before the updates? Did it close usually before you updated the macOS?
You can go to the location of the preference folder mentioned below and restore preferences manually if the previous folder does exist. https://adobe.ly/3CZiwFj
macOS: Hold down the Option key in the Finder when using the Go menu. The library will appear below the current user's home directory.
Library > Preferences > Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings

Same Story.. wouldn´t open out if a sudde, despite it worked before. Did anybody from @adobe-adobe get onto this. Looks like a major error!

I'm getting the same error message, suddenly. I had been using Photoshop just fine until just now. I paid for it just over 2 weeks ago.

Had this same issue today. I just opened the Creative Cloud, and the PS icon had an update. Try that; it worked for me.
