Annoying bounding box appears in every single thing I create on Photoshop

Can anyone help me disable this type of selection that appears in every single thing I create on Photoshop? It does not help me at all. When I disable "Extras", it disappears from the selected layer but then I have to do that in every other layer that keeps showing it. Is there any way to eliminate this once and for all?

With the Move tool active, click on the gear icon and uncheck Show transform controls, as illustrated in the screenshot.

You may also wish to keep in mind the two hover options also shown in Bojan's screenshot, they are recent additions that many also like to turn off (I don't like or want them, but I do like the transform controls, so to each their own).

Select the move tool. You may also find things easier with a standard workspace such as essentials.

Yes, I am selecting the move tool with default workspace. As you can see, there's no gear here 😞

For you, the answer is slightly different because your screen shots indicate that you have the option Enable Narrow Options Bar enabled in the Workspace panel of the Preferences dialog box. The narrow options bar saves a lot of space, but it looks different than what most people are used to because the narrow options bar saves space by replacing some of the text with more compact icons. See the picture below.

The other thing about my picture is that Show Transform Controls is not in the gear menu, it’s out on the options bar again where it used to be. This is because I’m running Photoshop 2025 (version 26.0.0), which was released last week. It looks like Adobe decided to move Show Transform Controls back out of the gear menu because in Adobe Community threads like this one, people didn’t realize that Show Transform Controls was hiding in that gear menu.

So for those of you who are unhappy that Adobe hid Show Transform Controls in Photoshop 2024/v25, one solution is to upgrade to Photoshop 2025/v26 where Show Transform Controls is once again visible out in the open, no longer hidden in the gear menu.

I was excited to find a way to turn off this feature. Sadly, the menu no longer shows that option. The lower three are still there. Did it get moved somehwere else? Everything online seems to point to this page.

Bojan... I have been trying for days. It is annoying to see the "view extra" everytime I bring an object in. And everytime I uncheck and it ends up showing up again next. THANK YOU!!! you were the only one with the right answer!!! Cheers
