Hello,

Due to my work, I use the Auto-select tool a lot. But, out of nowhere, it starts to work weirdly.
The process is the same, I select the tool and wait till it the AI finds the object. The object is found and marked correctly. But when I click on the object, it just makes a weird rectangle-like selection.

I tried to reset the tool. I tried to reset all the tools. I tried to reset the program. I am, in the right layer, I even tried different layers and different projects.

Video is included.

please, help.

Okay, so I've reinstalled the AMD adrenalin driver software and now it works just fine.

Thank you once again for your help. Much appreciate it

Hello @CShubert , thank you for your answer (and you too @Ged_Traynor). I have deleted all my presets from the folder, I have followed the instructions on this link https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html. It didn't solve my problem.

I have AMD RX 6800 XT, the drivers should be fine. I'll try to reinstall the AMD adrenalin software, for managing GPU, and I'll let you know if it helped. Thank you.

Yes @Matyáš2787530710lu that is strange.  As @Ged_Traynor says, replace your prefs and see if something has become corrupt that might be causing this...

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

@Matyáš2787530710lu I just tested with the Object Selection Tool and it's working fine for me with Photoshop version 24.4.1 on Windows 10

Have you tried manually resetting your Photoshop preferences
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Remember to backup your settings before doing the preference reset
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html

Also what GPU do you have in your system and is the driver up to date
