Best way to send an image with a transparent background

A client wants some logos I designed for him on a white background. Now he would like to change the color of the background for different uses. He would like me to send him the design on a transparent background. I explained he would need a program that recognizes transparency and he said it wouldn't be a problem. What would be the best format to send him the images in? PSD, Tiff or PNG? Thanks!

Chuck, if we just use the PNG option from the Save As drop down list, is that PNG-24?  If you use File > Export as, you get an option to drop to 8 bit (It is off by default).

Yea, Trevor, I haven't really looked too closely at the new export features, as I still use the old save for web.

To add what Brad said, png-24 is better for transparent areas, with png-8 you can get white halos. often you don't have to specify 24, but you want to make sure you're not making png-8s.

Chuck would you tell me why png 24 rather then just png"s? Never used png-24 before.

PNG-8 refers to palette variant, which supports only 256 colors, but is usually smaller in size. PNG-8 can be a GIF substitute. PNG-24 refers to true color variant, which supports more colors, but might be bigger. PNG-24 can be used instead of JPEG, if lossless image format is needed.

    I would send png-24 files.
