Cannot open .ARW files?

I recently purchased photoshop CS6 for Mac. I am using a Sony A6000, which should be supported for RAW files (Cameras supported by Camera Raw). However, when I try to open the .ARW file I get a "Photoshop cannot open this file" window. I updated photoshop, but it made no difference.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Yes, you can use the newest camera raw plugin for photoshop cs6 on Yosemite.

You tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get camera raw 9.1.1?

If that doesn't work you can use this installer for the camera raw 9.1.1 plugin:

I believe, and others can confirm, that you'll need at least Photoshop CS6 to run camera raw 8.4.  However, you can download the DNG converter to convert your RAW file.

Alpha a6000 (ILCE-6000)ARW8.4

I pulled the above information from the link you provided.  The Sony a6000 requires at least the 8.4 Camera Raw plug-in.  Here's how you can determine which version you have.

Which version of mac os x are you using?

If your using snow leopard mac os x 10.6.8, it only supports up to camera raw 8.3

If you go to Photoshop>About Plug-in and click on the words Camera Raw, what version does it say?

Is your ACR 8.4 or later?

Until you can determine the source of the problem, I suggest you download and use from Adobe the free Adobe DNG converter.
