Photoshop V24.0.1
MacOS Ventura 13.0.1
Step1: I creat a new file in photoshop (with some art in it) and save it on my network drive (Qnap NAS)
Step2: I open the same file and make some changes
Step3: hit the save button and o get this error "Could not save "file name" because of a disk error"... So i save it under another name.
Step4: Open the second file (the one just saved before), make some change and hit the save button. Same error as previously...
Everytime i try to save an exsiting file i get the same error message and photoshop creates a new "Adobe Photoshop xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" file.
I have also the same proble when i try to "Export as" to an exsiting file... the file is not replaced
Thanks for the help.

I am encountering the same issue. Using Qnap NAS. It was working until just now (it had been a few months since I opened photoshop from qnap so realizing this now). So the main quesiton is why was it working before and now it isn't! @malindis have you figured out a solution?

@Naima-Naima what changed with your NAS protocols?

What could be a difference of NAS protocol you can think of? I am not thinking of any. Nothing changed. The only things that change are the software updates of Adobe and qnap.

So when did the issue start? When you update qnap or PS? That will point you in the right direction. I would start with qnap.

maybe you should ask other developer for help to see how they do it 🙂

Adobe has chosen to not support working off a server. You MAY get it to work fine, while it may not work for someone else. As long as you know that there isn't official help or fixes involved when it breaks, you are welcome to try it.
A system could be engineered to support this workflow, but making it bulletproof is tough. What happens when the server crashes, for example? If Adobe officially supports servers, they would have to, yes, have the file copied to the local machine and automatically copy it back on save.

Why shoud Adobe be responsible if a server Crash ??? Or if there is a problem with a removable disk ???
It should just warn you that it couldn't save the file and the user decides where to copy his file. He then repairs the server or disk and manually copy he's file back to the server!!!
It's like if there is a problem with my local disk, you are not responsible to make a copy of my file somewhere else and then automaticaly restore the file to the local disk when I have repaired it...

Unfortunately @malindis this isn't a supported workflow and will not be one anytime soon.
Arguing the matter will not change the fact that you are faced with decisions to make - risk corrupting your files by continuing to work in the same manner or come up with a revised workflow that maintains the integrity of your files and allows you to backup on your NAS.

Because when you work off a server and it crashes, your open file is gone. You CAN'T save it locally then. Unless it was copied to the local hard drive first.
Bottom line, this is intentional and not a bug. There is nothing to fix. Its not supported. If it works great, if not then sorry but you may lose data. We are trying to help you NOT lose data.

OTOH, Adobe supports a server workflow for Premiere pro, with huge files, I wonder one could use Frame IO with Photoshop : https://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/collaboration.html

My understanding is that frame.io uses Adobe Servers and proxy streaming, so more akin to PDSC in Photoshop rather than a user server workflow.

Or similar to the former Version Cue.
Still, working on Creative Cloud servers is supported, maybe is there a need to have local instances of CC servers?

@PECourtejoie you dont work directly off an Adobe server for Creative Cloud.
Your files are synced locally after saving or downloaded.
