Duplicate shape all over the backgroud

Hello,

I would like to know how something like this:

is done in Photoshop? I would like to have a shap that I designed to be instead of these dots. Is there a way to do it quickly or I have to duplicate one layer as many as I need?

Also: how to make the same effect with dots, or corssed lines...?

Legend

Open new file, .5” x .5” (or your choice of spacing), transparent background

Create an enlarged view, perhaps >400%. View, not enlargement.

Place a symbol of your choice, size and color in the lower right corner

Edit > Define Pattern

Open a new file, your choice of dimensions, white background and add a blank layer

Edit > Fill > Pattern and in Custom Pattern choose the last one in the set. It is the pattern you just created. OK

What is the pixel width of the grid supposed to be?

• Create a new, empty document of those pixel dimensions

• place the illustration or whatever and scale it to meet your needs

• Select > All

• Edit > Define Pattern

• in the document where you want to use the grid apply Layer > New Fill Layer > Pattern and select the newly created Pattern
