Hello,

I am a beginner at Photoshop and am currently taking a course. For one of our assignments we need to prepare the photo for print and then change from RGB color setting to CMYK. But when I try I get the following error message (see attached). There is one other person in the class who is experinencing the same problem, and we are curious how to solvet it. Does anyone know what is going on? Thanks in advance for your help!

It is not error but rather information or warning that some adjustments layers will be discarded. I will tag @D Fosse for more detailed explanation if needed.

One more thing to add :

Do not switch to CMYK using Image > Image Mode

Use Edit > Convert to Profile and choose the CMYK profile appropraite to your required output (normal advise is check which one with your printer/publisher). There are many different CMYK profiles and it is important that you convert to the correct one, Image mode just uses whatever you have set as the default in Photoshop's colour settings which may , or may not, be the correct one for this output.

Not all blend modes or adjustment layers work the same in CMYK. Work in a copy, then flatten during colour conversion to maintain the RGB source appearance as much as possible in CMYK mode.

You must look at the adjustment layers and their blend modes to identify what you have and what isn't supported.

You should always check with your printer first (if you can), some printers want the images in sRGB and some want them in CMYK.

So there are some types of adjustments that will not work in CMYK mode then? How will you know beforehand? The other person at the course was told that it could have something to do with her computer not being poweful enough, or her graphics card not being sufficient for the task.

Thats not true, forget that statement or what other person "said".
