error using shapes in photoshop

I´m using Photoshop, when I try to use the shape tool, I have an error, and then I close that window and the software freeze and I have to shut it down.

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far? 

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
