Just updated Photoshop to 26.6.0
If I copy and past a text layer, then edit the text. While it displays the correct font in the top drop down, it's not using that font. It's using 'Myriad Pro'. I have to type a few letters, highlight them, change it to the correct font, then I can continue editing in the intended font.
I would expect it to work the same as editing an existing text layer.
Hi @Property Plus! Thanks so much for getting back to us.
Would you and @artistic_enthusiasm5413 be able to try out a quick workaround? Some users who ran into a similar issue in the past were able to resolve it by turning off “Missing Glyph Protection” under Preferences > Type. Could you give that a try and let us know if it helps?
Really appreciate your help with this!

Hi @artistic_enthusiasm5413! Welcome to the community!
I tried testing this out on my end but haven't been able to reproduce the issue so far. Does this happen with every font? Have you tried resetting your Photoshop preferences? If you could share a screen recording showcasing the error, that would be super helpful for us to investigate further.
Thanks a bunch!

I've tried a dozen fonts at random and it was the same. I will do a recording before trying the reset so you can see the issue even if the reset fixes it.

Hey @artistic_enthusiasm5413! Thanks a lot for the video!
I followed your steps but unfortunately couldn't reproduce the issue on my end. To investigate further, could you share your System Info? You can find it in Photoshop under Help > System Info. Just copy the info to a text file and attach it to your response, or share it with us through Google Drive, WeTransfer, or another file-sharing platform.
Also, could you let me know what method you're using to duplicate your layer? Are you using Ctrl + C and Ctrl + V? If so, can you try other methods like using Ctrl + J or right-clicking the layer and selecting Duplicate Layer? Let me know if the behavior is the same or if those methods work.
Thanks a bunch!
Alek

In the video I was using keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl + C/V). Problem also occurs using the menu to copy and paste.
Duplicating the layer, either through keyboard shortcuts or other methods doesn't have the font issue (i.e. it works fine).
I also tried in Illustrator, copying and pasting or duplciating a text layer doesn't have an issue.
I installed an older version of Photoshop, v25.12.3. Copying and pasting text layers doesn't reproduce the issue (it works as expected)
System info attached.

I've updated to 26.6.1, but the problem persists.
I realize there is a workaround, but I am concerned what else this bug is affecting.
Any update?

I'm sorry to hear the update didn't solve the issue. Unfortunately, it's tricky for our team to investigate since we don't have a reliable way to reproduce the problem yet. Your System Info looks fine, but I noticed your graphic card drivers haven't been updated in 9 months. You might want to try updating them to see if it helps.
Could you please share a screenshot of your character panel? Also, can you test if pasting with Ctrl + Shift + V has the same behavior?
Thanks a lot!

Hello. I'm having the same issue. Was a solution ever found?

Hi @charlied123!
Sorry to hear you're running into the same issue—that can definitely be frustrating. Could you tell us a bit more about your setup? Knowing which version of Photoshop you're using and what operating system you're on would really help. Also, does this happen with every font or just certain ones? If you’ve already tried the troubleshooting steps mentioned earlier in the thread, like resetting preferences, let us know how that went.
It would also be super helpful if you could share your System Info. You can find it in Photoshop under Help > System Info. Just copy the contents into a text file and attach it here, or share it through Google Drive, WeTransfer, or any file-sharing service you prefer.
Thanks so much!

@Aleke I'm also having the same issue as @artistic_enthusiasm5413 - exactly the same details. I'm using Photoshop Beta v 26.9 on Windows. I've had this issue for at least a month.

Hi @Property Plus, welcome to the community!
Thanks for sharing your System Info. Just checking, are you seeing this same error in the regular version of Photoshop (26.8.1), or is it only happening in the Beta version for you?
Appreciate your help with this!

Hi @Aleke, I've just tested and yes the issue is happening in both Photoshop and Photoshop Beta.

Hi @Property Plus, thanks for confirming!
I’m having a bit of trouble digging into this since I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue on my end, and I haven’t spotted any clear patterns between your setup and the original poster’s that might point us in the right direction.
If you wouldn’t mind, could you share a quick screen recording showing what’s happening? It might help reveal something I’m missing and give us a better shot at figuring this out.
Really appreciate your patience with this!

Hi @Property Plus, thanks so much for sharing the video!
I tried testing this on my end using default fonts, Adobe Fonts, and even some third-party fonts, but so far I haven’t been able to reproduce the issue.
Just curious, have you tried resetting your preferences? Sometimes if an internal file gets corrupted, it can cause odd behavior like this. Resetting preferences might help clear that up.
Here’s how to do it: https://adobe.ly/4nDuVB6
Let me know if that makes any difference!

Resetting the preferences made no difference for me. It was either downgrade to v25 or use a method other than copy and paste.
@Aleke , did you notice that it's the same font being set - Myriad Pro? Any significance?

Hi @artistic_enthusiasm5413! Thanks for chiming in.
Myriad Pro is the default font in most Adobe apps, and it usually shows up when no other font has been properly specified. It’s almost like the app “forgets” the font you selected and just falls back to the default.
Let’s see if @Property Plus has any luck after resetting preferences. I’m also going to share this case with the rest of the team so we can take a closer look. Just because I haven’t been able to reproduce it on my end doesn’t mean it’s not a real issue, the fact that it’s affecting three different users definitely makes it worth investigating further.
Really appreciate everyone’s patience and input!

I've just had a go at resetting my preferences and unfortunately it didn't change anything. My IT help person did note that he thought it was strange that when he copied text from Photoshop into a Word doc that it pasted as plain text, if that helps?

Hi @Aleke, this has fixed the issue! 😄 So now that I have missing glyph protection disabled, if I use a font in the future with a missing glyph I will have to watch out for a blank space, is that correct?

Yes, @Aleke , disabling the “Missing Glyph Protection” resolves the issue in 26.8.1

Hi @artistic_enthusiasm5413 and @Property Plus, so glad to hear that resolved the issue!
Just a quick note: with Missing Glyph Protection turned off, any characters that aren’t supported by the font will show up as empty spaces. Hopefully that doesn’t get in the way of your work too much. We really appreciate your patience and your help testing this out with us.
Thanks again!
