Adding to what everyone said: I would bet my bottom dollar that if you pared down those 700 shots you would not be worse for wear if you wanted to showcase your grandson's games. There are a few ways of showcasing these shots. You could create an MP4 like Dave mentioned; you could also create a slideshow using PowerPoint or similar. Both options require some elbow grease and know-how, though.

I can't remember about PowerPoint, but you could easily garner interest in the shots by using motion in a non-linear editor (or NLE) like Premiere (e.g., gentle zooming and panning). Again, requires some knowledge, but you gain a skill in the process.  🙂

You will hit a 500 frame limit exporting a GIF.

Worse than that, a GIF uses indexed colour i.e. it look up the image colours from a table containg a maximum of 256 entries, and so is limited to 256 separate colours.

An 8 bits/channel jpeg image can have 256 x 256 x 256 = 16.7 million colours

In short, GIF is not really suitable for a slide show of photographs, keep it for simple animations that are intended for fast download when sharing on the web.

You could make a slideshow in the animation timeline and export to a video format such as mp4. But 700 still images is a looooong slideshow 🙂

Why Gif color support is very poor the Animated Gif file would  be larger then a video file of the game.   You would be better off  putting your collection of shot images into a folder on your amazon drive and have amazon Photo or your HDTV Screen saver display the shots as a slide show.  And adding new shots is a breeze you just add them to the folder. Alexa play my shots!
