Question

Hand tool sticky when "space bar" dragging across image with pen tool 24.4.1

I use the pen tool for hours every day.

I press the space bar to move around the image with the pen tool selected.

The hand tool is now "sticky" and it does not allow me to flick across the image about 75% of the time.

It's INCREDIBLY irritating.

Sometimes I can flick the image, but most of the time the image sticks to the hand tool.

Version 24.4.1 on Win 10.

Is this a thing? It's driving me crazy.

This just started happening to me. PS Version 25.9.0, Windows 11, Threadripper, Quadro P5000
Pretty tired of scouring these boards, uninstalling, reinstalling, resetting prefs, etc only to come up with non-solutions

Same... it STILL isn't fixed, too many bugs, but I permanently fixed it, switched back to Mac - everything's perfect, and my workflow is SOOOOO much better now, I didn't actually realize how much windows was suffocating me. However, this still doesn't absolve Adobe of neeing to fix this, they are charging people good money for this software with that kind of bugs, and it's not okay.

In version 25.6, this issue has finally been resolved for me. Yay! Thanks devs!

I also have the same problem here with V25.5.1 on two different Windows 10 machines.

Adobe devs, seriously. as people have said, we use this for work, this is not acceptable. we pay a lot of money to subscribe for something that is broken and completely hinders our work. How can you think this is acceptable?

Seriously, what's it going to take for you guys to do your job?

Same problem here too with V25.5.1 on two different Windows 10 machines.
V23.5.0 works fine.

Nonsense that Adobe completely ignores the commutity feedbacks. Extremly annoying bug and still no fix for it. Ill leave this shitapp when my subscription ends. Will replace with alternate softwares. Goodby adobe...

Driving me mad as I'm getting it both with my Wacom and mouse.

I seemed to have resolved it by turning off, flick panning, animated zoom and spring loaded tool shortcuts. The latter for the sticky grab handles on free transform tool.

Adobe has really gone down hill since the subscription service started.

Abobe please FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!

I am very annoyed that I pay a month sub to your service and this has been an issue since MAY!
I am tired on having to stop my work, reset my preferences and copy drag the folders over to get Photoshop working again.
Please fix this issue already!
This issue pops up every week for me and I'm getting sick of dealing with it

Had the same problem for the longest time with all of 24.x versions. Even had it immediately after updating to 24.7

Both times, the solution for me was to Reset the Preferences Completely, and then manually restore them to my own default once photoshop reopens. As of right now, it seems as if this has resolved it for 24.7 as well. Otherwise I was gonna go back to 24.5 which solved this problem with this same solution.

I experienced the same thing after the last update, initially this problem appeared only in the beta version, I resolved it in the following way (this is for the beta version):
1. Backup photoshop settings, by copying folder C:\Users\(YOUR PC NAME)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)
select the "Adobe Photoshop (Beta) Settings" folder and the "Presets" folder, save it in a safe place.
2. In photoshop, open settings (ctrl+k) and click "Reset Preferences On Quit"

3. Close the Photoshop application
4. Reopen the Photoshop application, once open, don't do any activity, close your Photoshop again.
5. Go to C:\Users\(YOUR PC NAME)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta) directory
Delete the "Adobe Photoshop (Beta) Settings" Folder and the "Presets" folder
6. Copy the folder from the backup earlier, and paste it in the folder C:\Users\(YOUR PC NAME)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop (Beta)
7. Open the Photoshop application, and the problem has been resolved.
Until now the problem doesn't appear anymore. Good luck!

THAT WORKED! I had my doubts but it worked. Thank you.

NOW.. Adobe,  FIX this bug permanently. You have no idea how dibilitating this bug is. It's a shame that your users have to find a workaround for a bug that's persisted for so long.
