Help needed for double tapered brush Photoshop 2025

Hi. I have troubles making double tapered end brushes in the new Photoshop 2025, and with unlimited lenght. I use my mouse as a primary tool tho sometimes I use a stylas.

I've managed to make a brush with one tapered end but it's very annoying to constantly adjust the length value. And I really need the double tapered ends for my line art.

I didn't have these problems in the older versions of Photoshop.

Can anyone help? Thank you in advance

Thank you for your help! It seems to do the trick.

I was confused after a long night looking at tutorials and searching for help. And the example brush in the box didn't show tapered end after configuration. I tried as you showed and the stroked path now have tapered ends 😄

I wonder if you might not be better served by using an Illustrator Art Brush for this.

Admittedly combining a Vector Smart Object with a pixel image can be uncomfortable but it offers some potential advantages (whether those are relevant to your use case is naturally for you to say).

I admit it seems like Illustrator is best suited for artists. But I've never really caught on since I had already worked with photoshop for several years by the time I tried to learn Illustrator. I still wonder sometimes in what ways I could work with a piece in each program.

Please elaborate on the differences you recall (from which exact Photoshop version?) and post screenshots – tapering would seem to depend on the Shape Dynamics so that would probably be the relevant part of the Brush Settings Panel.

If you have a pressue stylus, then it's easy by turning on Shape Dynamics in Brush Settings and under Size Jitter enable Pen Pressure, then you can vary how thick the brush stroke is by how hard you press the stylus on the tablet.

Just using a mouse you would need to draw out a Path then stroke the path with pen pressure checked.

You have much more control using a Stylus.
