Question

help!!! toggle preserve transparency error

I am using Adobe cc Photoshop in my company.

From a few days ago, the toggle preserve transparency function is applied like pressing the spacebar with move enabled.

This is very inconvenient. Is it a simple bug? Please reply to me.

I've also experienced an annoyance with this.

So the keyboard short cut to lock transparency for me is set to /

Provided I only use /, transparency for the layer is switched on and off as expected.

However, when I use Ctrl + / to lock the layer completely, toggle transparency (pressing /) no longer works.

Instead, by pressing / the layer now locks and unlocks, instead of locking transparency.

Transparency toggle lock and unlock ( / ) is restored by unlocking the layer, then re-locking transparency.

Is there a way to stop it defaulting to lock layer after using Ctrl + / ???

The same applies when I change the key to any other eg. Y.

Y = toggle transparency

Ctrl + Y = lock layer

Y now toggles layer lock, not transparency lock

So the problem for me is this:

If I want to retain lock transparency with a shortcut key, I should avoid using Ctrl + / to lock the layer,

or I must always return to the layers panel to switch it back to transparency lock instead of layer lock.

First, Thanks for all the answers!!

Unfortunately, it wasn't a solution.

I'm korean..

Even if my English grammar is wrong,.... please understand me. ㅜㅜ

I'm writing it urgently during work. Please understand that the sentence is awkward.

I used the latest version of Photoshop cc. It is not accurate, um... I updated it last Thursday to Friday.

I think the update is a problem. Before that, such an error did not occur.

I'm a 2D-based game graphic designer, and I often use the toggle preserve transparency function (shortcut key /) for my work. This is very useful when you lock a colored area.

If I change the shortcut of toggle preserve transparency to anything, pressing the space bar with the move key activated repeatedly activates lock / unlock. The lock / unlock is repeatedly counted while holding down the space bar. Very uncomfortable. I eventually eliminated the toggle preserve transparency shortcut.

Ctrl + / key.. I can not be used for area locking. because all items are locked.

help me .ㅠㅠ

The spacebar should turn the mouse cursor to the Hand tool cursor and if the image being displayed does not fit within Photoshop image window you should be able to drag the image around(pan) it within Photoshop image.   The move tool is not active when you press the spacebat the move tool cursor changes to the Hand Tool.  It does on my CC 2017.1 Windows machine.

The / shortcut seem to be broke in CC 2017.1 it works like the Ctrl+/ shortcut not the way it should. ? may work correctly it seem to toggle the last layer lock state. This seem to be the case in many versions of CC, perhaps all versions CS6 and CS2 work that way tooooo.  In the history palette the short cut shoes as  lock and unlock layer,

Look like a new bug the shortcut / is now acting like the shortcut Ctrl+/ it seems to be locking and unlocking the layer.  The shortcut / should just lock and unlock the layers tranparenct...

JJMack, can you reproduce it? (Edit: with The Move Tool and spacebar that is)

Then it would seem to warrant being reported over at:

Is it a simple bug?

If your car does not start is it always the car manufacturer’s fault or could other parties have had some influence on this, too?

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels etc. visible to illustrate?

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
