How do I install zxp files in CC 2015?

I'm trying to sort out the mess that this update has caused for me, and am trying to get my missing extension panels and plugins back.

GuideGuide provided a new version as a folder and the developer says that it must be manually installed now, as Extension Manager is deprecated.

Coolorus, on the other hand, just updated with a new version and it is a .zxp file as previously.  Their website suggests downloading the new version of Extension Manager, which I did.  When I launch the freshly installed Extension Manager, though, I see none of the 2015 apps, and double clicking on the .zxp file says that it is unsupported.

How do I install .zxp files now?

This isn't as bad as the changeover that got rid of Flash panels and anything made with Configurator, but it is still another awkward update from Adobe that doesn't inspire confidence in their beta testing or communication skills.

Wow.  I just had a chat with Adobe tech support and was told that Extension Manager is no longer supported for Photoshop.  According to them, .zxp files can no longer be installed into Photoshop CC 2015.

My behavior is not a bug, it is a feature!

Hi, I had the same problem with extension manager and photoshop CC. I am not an expert in all these stuff. But what i did is I changed the file extension ZXP to ZIP and extracted the contents to a folder. After extraction copied the same directory to Windows 64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\. and when i opened photoshop Extensions are there under WINDOW>EXTENSIONS>

This solution worked for me---using an alternative zxp installer

The following 3rd party extension manager is available for Photoshop Extension Manager. www.zxpinstaller.com

Fcs227 - perfect!  I have been struggling for 3 days on how to load my NKS5 brushes (personal favorites) into my CC 2017.  super simple.  download the installer, drag the zxp file onto the installer window and boom - mic drop.  make sure ps is closed before you try it though.  it will simply quit if adobe is open.

It is possible to install zxp files onto Photoshop CC 2015 even though Photoshop no longer has an Extension Manager in its program.

Extension Manager CC 2015 is a separate program but it will sync all of your Adobe CC 2015 programs & you can just click "Install" to add zxp files.

I have been using a Windows 8.1 laptop to run all these programs, so I am not sure about the Mac OS.

Someone in reply to the Coolorus Team (on FB) said that when manually installing the extension, she added "CEP" & its subfolder "extensions" in her "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe" folder.  I do not recommend that anyone do this because when I did, Coolorus 2 did appear in "Windows > Extensions", but Photoshop was running extremely slow & began to crash for no reason (other than that change).  Once using Extension Manager CC, Photoshop ran as normal & I still had the Coolorus 2.

Usually Extension manager CC can open the zxp and install Coolorus.  Just double-click the zxp and CC  should open.

Here are the manual instructions.  Seems like these directories should exist already, and if you are having problems let Coolorus know.

Manual Installation of Coolorus for CC2014 and above as provided by Coolorus

    1. Copy “com.moongorilla.coolorus” to the following directory

    Windows 64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\

    Windows 32: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\CEP\extensions\

    OS X: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/

    2. Restart Photoshop. Coolorus extension will be available at Window > Extension > Coolorus 2.5

Maybe you should uninstall and try again.

Extensions show up on Win 7 at work but not OS X Yosemite at home. Weird.

Some stuff works, some doesn't. Supposedly now you use Sync Files via the Exchange website to install addons.

Of course, this isn't DOCUMENTED anywhere...

This is Adobes way of making sure all the $$$ flows through them, if you want third party extensions they want to make it so you

have to buy them through their Exchange and CC.app cutting out those third party providers that did not want to deal with adobe.

Adobe really knows how too be nice to its customers,,, not!

Two interesting Extension Manager related errors that I see in Console:

Unfortunately, this application, or a library it uses, is using this obsolete function, and is thereby contributing to an overall degradation of system performance.

I am seeing a system slowdown since today's updates, too.

Weird... If CC 2015 does not appear on the list, reinstall it.

The Extension Manager is picking up on new installs and Coolorus just released a zxp that works with CC 2015

If that does not work, there are instructions for a manual install included in the 2.5.4 download.

So for whatever extensions you have, you have to wait for the maker to set it up for Photoshop v. 16 (CC 2015)

Fonthero for example is at 15.2-15.9 and won't be installed for 16.0

That's interesting, since on my mac 10.10.3 the extension manager cc doesn't list any of the 2015 applications.

Which version of the extension manager cc do you have?

I'm away from my macbook,  Kelly. What I did was to open Bridge and launch "manage extensions" from there. That's when I noticed the cc 2015 apps showing up.

    I also restarted my macbook.

Maybe that's what is needed. I know I have the latest cc extension manager from last year

Unfortunately, the extension manager has been discontinued, so as of now there is no extension manager for the cc 2015 applications/programs.

From my understanding the adobe exchange and creative cloud app will be the way to install extensions into cc 2015 applications, but you may have to wait awhile until adobe and extension developers get everything up to speed.
