I can't figure out how to save all generated examples.... so I have 3 nice looking flowers, but... how do I save all 3 flowers to layers?
2nd question: Why are the topics listed below so daft?

Are you talking about Generative Fill? Try this: duplicate Generative Fill layer in the Layers panel then change variation.

Thanks Bojan - that worked. I was expecting an "expand variations to layers" or something similar.
Hang on. .🙂
I didn't see this yesterday. Hmm..

Unfortunately you have to do that for every generated image. There doesn't appear to be an option to do a group save. Kind of annoying. Most AI seem to be that way. There needs to be a Save All option and/or the option to select ones you want then batch save. People of the future - hurry up!!!

@Robert Saenz , please explain what you mean with screenshots including all pertinent Panels.

Thank you! That worked. So much to learn.

Yes I tried that, and then all layers change to the new variation..

Bojan - No, that doesnt work. Sounded plausible, but when i duplicate the chosen layer it only shows the one option that I have selected in the Generative fill layer. Only the original generative fill layer allows me to click through the 6+ options, while the duplciated layer will ONLY show the immeiately selected view.

2nd question: Why are the topics listed below so daft?
What are you talking about?

When we start a post, a list of topics appears, below the post, and at least one of them must be chosen.
More often than not, there are many listed that have absolutely nothing to do with the actual topic or content.
In this case, the closest thing for me was "MacOS" or whatever is was. I doubt anyone coming in with the same question is going to search "MacOS".

But searching the Forum does not rely on those topics alone and a topic for each of Photoshop’s functions/menu items/… would seem pretty excessive.

Point being, sometimes / often we are required to pick a tag that isn't relevant.

There are other reasons for the topics —they are also used as filters. When staff is tracking bugs, it helps them to know if the user is on macOS, Windows, Web, or iPad. Scripters will filter to the Scripting tag to catch those posts. I will filter to iPad sometimes to catch the questions that are coming in with that topic.

Your variations remain embedded in the Generative Fill layer until you remove them. It's one of the other complaints that this bloats file sizes. There is no need to do an extra save process to preserve them.

Until you rasterise one of them, then poof, all gone.
So layer duplication will then change all layers the the current selected variation, so that doesn't work.
Seriously, such advances, yet the only solution I can currently think of is to duplicate the file, change the file name and that's rather back to the dark ages isn't it. 😛

Could you please post screenshots with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible to illustrate the issue?

Just to clarify.
You can save the options in a generated layer by right clicking on the layer and choosing 'convert to layers' from the drop down menu.
This produces a group with all the images inside.
If these are full image genertions the mask is disabled, partial screen generations retain the mask.

Seriously, it should be easier!

You can click on a single generated image and use Ctrl +J to copy it as a layer.
So if you've got a small number of generations - say the standard 3 - you can click on each one and use Ctrl + J three times. You get single layers - not a group.
This will obviously get tedious if you have a large number of generations.
But if you have a large number and only want to save a few then this method might be easier.
