Question

How to automatically add .jpg extension when save for web?

I used to be able to hit save for web and would add .jpg extension everytime I saved it as a jpg. Now it highlights the entire file name (including the filename) so I have to manually add ".jpg" everytime before I save. Is there a way to add this feature? Photoshop used to do this automatically but now it doesn't...

What is your Photoshop > Preferences > File Handling > Append File Extension setting?

With that setting Photoshop should add the correct extension anyway, so I am unsure what the problem is.

Could you post a screenshot of the offending dialog window to clarify?

For example this is the dialog that appears. It used to highlight just "T2_ab" and not the .jpg extension as well. If I want to rename the file I have to manually type example.jpg instead of just being able to type example. Let me know if that makes sense thanks!
