Is there a plugin or something for gathering a Photoshop file's fonts?

Is there a plugin available for Photoshop which will export a Photoshop file and its associated fonts into a tidy folder, to then be sent off to a print shop or whatever? Or, alternately, is there a way to generate a list of fonts utilized in a Photoshop file?

Use the Creative Cloud Library.

Click on the fly out menu top right, and choose Create new library from document.

It will save all fonts used, as well as colour swatches, styles, smart objects etc.

It's one of my favourite features because you don't need to trawl through a bunch of client documents to remember what assets you used.  It's right there in a library.

If it's using Adobe Fonts -then no there is not a way to package those up.

I'm sure @c.pfaffenbichler or someone may have a script for an output list.

However, I'm not sure why you would ever send a live, unflattened .psd file to a printer - that is bad practice.

Always send at least a flattened file if not a PDF format.

This was an excellent suggestion. Thank you so much!

@Trevor.Dennis @M_G6 how would this help? Seriously asking. If you are sending a native .psd file with live fonts - the printer would need access to Adobe Fonts or you would need to then share the library.

Still trying to understand in what scenario you would send a native PSD to a printer.

That's a valid question. In reality,, the purpose is different from the "sending to printer" scenario. I currently have days where I must log in to my work computer remotely to access our centrall server. I then must occasionally download a PSD file off the server, then work on it on my home computer. This of course sometimes involves installing fonts onto my home computer so I can make the required text changes. I was hoping to gather those fonts used into a single folder, for transfer to my home computer. I used the "for printer" scenario because I felt other artists would be most familiar with that scenario, rather than my scenario.

@M_G6 That scenario makes much more sense than sending to a printer. Thanks

The OC asked ' is there a way to generate a list of fonts utilized in a Photoshop file?

I showed him a way.  View on Website generates a link that shows all assets, and can be shared with whoever.

There you go.  Now you'll know what to tell the next person who asks.  😉
