I'm having trouble creating a border and title frame in photoshop for a tarot deck. The size of the cards are 3.5 x 5.75. Down below I put some pictures of what I am looking for in terms of design.

Libraries offers a few options for Pattern creation by the way.

For the corner ornaments:

• Smart Objects

• Smart Objects

• Smart Objects

That way one can easily edit all instances of the element.

Wow! Thanks so much. I also have one more thing to ask, how would I add the border? Aside from the line work and everything I marked it down below, so everything not in red basically.

For that it might be useful to create a Pattern and use Pattern Layers.

And, again, if maintaining a uniform appearance across multiple files is necessary a Linked Smart Object (containing the Pattern Layer).

I cannot make out the pattern too well, might be some floral elements.

So either start with an illustration or a photograph, create or isolate the repeating element, define the Pattern and create a Pattern Fill Layer.

If one creates the pattern as black/white one can use a Gradient Map Adjustment Layer to colorize it later on without having to recreate the pattern.

And if symmetry is intended Smart Object instances can be of help again.

So what is your problem exactly?

One thing worth considering from the start:

Creating the corner ornament as a Smart Object should make it easier to update all four corners instances simultaneously.

The connecting elements should benefit from the same approach if they are too complex for Layer Styles or Shape Layer Strokes.

And if the cards are separate files then Linked Smart Objects can help maintain uniform elements.

The problem is that I'm new to photoshop in general lol. I should've worded it better, i'm kindve in the dark about everything so I was asking for help in a general sense.

Fir the lines one option would be

• Use the Rectangle Tool to create a Shape Layer

• select the Direct Selection Tool and set the Fill to None and the Stroke to whatever

• duplicate the Layer (cmd-J)

• change the Stroke accordingly

• under »More Options« you can change the dash/gap-relationship
