My Final Result Image below; how do I do better job of blending the two images?

The tutorial shows the mask (the black and white area to the right of the image in the layers panel) is partly black with a soft edge. Yours is solid white.

A mask shows the layer where the mask is white and makes the layer transparent where the mask is black. Gray is semi- transparent.

You need therefore to emulate that soft edge mask over the edge of your top layer. Click on the mask and either use the gradient tool - or paint on it with a large soft brush set to black.
