Question

Need help please with batch automation

Hello!

I must be getting old quicker than I thought LOL. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here.

Patterns are saved in Preset and I've created an action to run through each tile and apply to fill layer and it works just fine.

The open file is PSD. What I'm wanting to do is batch save each rendering as a JPG file.

I don't know if I'm overlooking something or this isn't possible without a script, but I'm not having any success with this.

Thank you so much for your assistance! 🙂

~Karen

I assume you wish to save each 'rendering' as a separate file with a unique filename, correct? That's where things begin to get complex. Could you please provide further clarification as requested by @Stephen Marsh, or even better, post screenshots to demonstrate precisely what you are trying to accomplish?

Yes, that's correct. The plan is for the action to apply the pattern, then the result saved as a JPG file.

@kdenn

Do you have multiple layers already generated?

Or do you require a file to be saved when the action updates each pattern in a single pattern fill layer?

Exactly this: "Or do you require a file to be saved when the action updates each pattern in a single pattern fill layer?"

Problem Solved!

It took a few hours but I just did a "save" step to one designated folder, duplicated the step, ran the step for each to have it save as the pattern name. I should have thought of that in the first place.

Thank you!

If you have recorded in the action step the exact path to save a file, avoid reusing the action unless you intend to overwrite the existing files.
