No Option to Open as an Image Sequence

Hello. A few months ago, I installed a trial for Photoshop 5 to create a few gifs. About a month after the trial ended, I acquired the full version of Photoshop 6 to make some more gifs. However, the option to load as an image sequence is not present as it was before:

As I recall, the tick box to load as an image sequence should be at the bottom of the window. Does anyone know why it's not there? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just a reminder. You can do what you want to do with CS6 standard using these steps.

1.) Menu File>Scripts>Load Files into Stack....  (choose all the images files in your sequence and click OK)

2.) Menu Windows>Timeline in the timeline palette click on create frame animation

3.) Use the frame animation fly-out menu which pop-up when you click on the icon in the top right corner of the timeline palette

4.) Choose make frames from layers.

5.) Set the frame duration in the frame

Just to be clear, when loading an image sequence, loading as a stack is not required. But could be useful should problems arise.

I noticed the original image did not show the file extension. The file type must be supported by Photoshop for it to load file(s) or an image sequence.

All that is required is the files must be in sequence - no skipping numbers, then just use File>Open. Click the first file only. Followed by checking the image sequence box at the bottom.

One thing that does come to mind as I don't recall is the first image may have to be 1 not 0. I can confirm later.

OK, Sequence can start and 0 or 1 - Now I know. LOL.

Understanding that this is a super old thread, I came across it when I discovered the same issue. Since no replies mention it so far, I figure it's worth pointing out this is a Mac-only problem, confirmed here. All the Windows screencaps in the world won't help in finding it, because it's simply not there no matter what you do, nor will it ever be (for those of us still hanging onto CS6). JJMack's reply above is a good workaround.

Still doesn't appear to be fixed in photoshop cc 2015 on the mac side.

That being said, i believe when you use Layer>Video Layers>New Video Layer from File, the Image Sequence box

is always checked and can't be unchecked.

So even though their is no checkbox, it should still load the images (frames) as a sequence on the mac side.

Thanks to everyone for the fast and helpful replies! It was quite the headache trying to figure out what was wrong before coming here.

Here's the open dialog for CS5. It does have image sequence for an option.

I think you need photoshop cs6 extended. (or cs3-cs6 extended)

This being cs6 extended on xp is why there is no 3d option in the menu bar.

The trial versions of photoshop are the extended versions and you probably have the standard version of photoshop cs6.

CS6 is suppose to have video capability, just the 3D is suppose to be in the extended, from what I understand. (I haven't upgraded yet)

One thing I am noticing between your dialog box and the OP's is one is windows and the other is Adobe's. There should be an option in the preference or on the dialog box to switch between the two.

Sorry I wish I could be more help, but at the moment I have no way of confirming anything. And No I don't plan on ever using a trial version of any program. I have seen way too many issues way back with CS3 and people trying to upgrade after using the trial.
