Question

Node.exe causing laptop shutdown?

I have a basically brand new laptop that I use exclusively for photo editing/online to run my photography business. I've only had it about 2 weeks, and I haven't installed anything except for Adobe CC (Lightroom, Photoshop, and Bridge).

Last week when I was running batch editing in PS, I was getting an error message briefly (something about Node.exe), and my laptop was shutting down.

Now today my laptop is just shutting down when I try to run an action in PS.

My antivirus software isn't finding any issues. I only have issues when I run photoshop. I have more than enough resources to run it, I specifically bought this laptop to run photoshop. It's a Dell XPS with 1TB hard drive and 16 GB of RAM.

Can anyone help me? I'm not super tech-savvy, I've seen some answers to similar-ish issues that say to rename node.exe  but I'm not sure what it does and I don't want to screw anything up. Node.exe is in the Adobe file folders. C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud\CCLibrary\libs

Thanks!

    Hello,

Node.exe is a type of EXE file associated with MSDN Development Platform U.S. developed by Microsoft for the Windows Operating System. Node.exe problems can be attributed to corrupt or missing files, invalid registry entries associated with Node.exe, or a virus / malware infection.

Unless you are an experienced user, it is NOT recommended to manually edit the Windows registry!!!

I write below 9 points that can solve the problem:

    1) Repair Registry Entries Associated with MSDN Development Platform U.S.

    2) Performed a complete malware scan of your PC (turn off WiFi while you do this)

    3) Delete unnecessary items (temporary files and folders) with Disk Cleanup (cleanmgr)

    4) Update your device drivers for your PC

    5) Use Windows System Restore to "undo" recent system changes

    6) Uninstall and Reinstall the MSDN Development Platform U.S. Program associated with Node.exe

    7) Run Windows System File Checker ("sfc / scannow")

    8) Install all available Windows updates

    9) Perform a clean installation of Windows

Do you mean you OS shutdown and power off you machine? Any Action or  specific Action?

Yes. The whole thing just turns off. It seems like it's more complicated actions causing it.

I renamed the node.exe file and it seems like it helped (but I didn't spend much time on it before I had to leave my laptop for the day). My friend told me she had a similar issue on her laptop and was told to just uninstall it, apparently it screws up ps on windows based laptops, and hers has been fine since.
