Not enough memory (RAM) error message

Whenever i attempt to use the Quick Selection tool in a Photoshop file, I get the error message saying, "Cannot use Quick Selection because there is not enough memory (RAM)." This began happening after my PC laptop, running Windows 10, ran automatic updates. I've seen the solution of... Go to Edit>Preferences>General>Performance, and then to adjust the # to 1504 or 100%. However, when I try to do that, I repeatedly get another error message saying, "An integer between 96 and 8 is required. Closest value inserted." And the Quick Selection tool is still unusable. Has anyone encountered this problem and discovered a fix or work-around?

I'm puzzled, stefanp, because you said you had updated, but you are running very old software.

This is NOT fixed. I have a new CC account and I can't do anything with Photoshop because I keep getting this error. I have the latest update so I'm not sure why you're saying it's fixed....it's not.

Lisa

Had you applied the temporary workaround in the registry? If so it needs to be removed for v19.1.5 to manage the memory normally
