This is a PNG file image. By moving the curve end point, it is impossible to give an opacity to image. What is the reason for that? If you notice only border moves. Video is attached & PNG file also attached.

Correct answer Jeff Arola

If your trying to make the layer transparent or partially transparent using curves it won't work in photoshop because Adobe did not give users direct access to the Transparency Channel in the Channels drop down list.

If you transfer the layer's transparency channel to a layer mask via Layer>Layer Mask>From Transparency then you can vary the transparency by using curves on the layer mask.

Hi @MahaB82A, I did a test myself (see video attached). I think this is what you are expecting to happen when adjusting the curves layer. (Windows 10; Photoshop 24.7.0 Release). Maybe that particular PNG file is corrupted. Did you test this with a different file to check? It's possible a Preferences reset will clear things out. Have you tried that yet? Let us know how it's going.

ETA: I opened it in Adobe Illustrator to test as well. Is it because the original of this shape is a vector, not a raster, file, meaning the curves adjustment won't work the same way?

Thanks.

You are correct "this is what expecting to happen when adjusting the curves layer". If layer is a white color by moving point towards down you can make the layer turn into black color. If layer is black you cannot see any changes.

Okay, great. I thought you were trying to make the black become transparent.
