The graphics card that I have is the NVIDIA GeForce RT4060 and is one year old as is the computer. It has been happening off and on for 4 months. Very annoying indeed for a new computer (almost).

After many attempts, I found the reason.

IMHO, the community experts will do nothing but ask you to submit your computer report.

Step 1 : set GPU acceleration to Custom in ACR Performance Settings and uncheck those two options.

Step 2: In the preset column, right-click in the menu and turn off the preview ai settings on rollover function.

Step 3: Turn off all adaptive filters in the preset filters.

When you open a RAW image, ACR will automatically use AI to recognize the image, regardless of whether you really need it or not, due to the preview ai settings on rollover function. The preview ai settings on rollover function means that when your mouse hovers over a preset, ACR will render the image after applying AI recognition, rather than rendering after you click. This function, combined with the adaptive filter in the preset bar, will cause a large amount of GPU memory consumption, and it will not be released until you close the software.

OK, thanks for reporting back. Hopefully this will help others who have this problem.

But just so it's clear, this does not happen to the majority of users, so it's not a simple case of "stupid design" as you say. This is something specific to some systems. Like most bugs, it's about certain interactions in certain scenarios - hard to fix if it's not happening in the test situation.

I've never seen any excessive memory consumption on either of my two machines, one with an RTX 4060 Ti and the other with RTX 3060. And I use this software professionally, 8 hours a day.

Thank you for your reply. My language was a bit too harsh because I have been troubled by this matter for half a year and it makes me very angry.

I don't know what version of PS and ACR you are using.I have always used the latest version in Creative Cloud.Every time I hope that the update can solve my problem, but it never happens.

I have to point out that this is a Camera raw issue and not a Photoshop issue.

Every time I open a raw file shot with my Sony A7C2 camera and apply a preset, I can see in the task manager that my GPU memory is consumed a lot until it is completely exhausted. It is not like the expert in the community replied that it only consumes 75% of the GPU memory.I don't know if you will use camera raw to process RAW files.My hardware configuration is NVDIA 4060TI 16G and 80G system memory.

At the same time, my photographer friends also encountered the same problem and solved it with my suggestions. I also saw many people mentioned the same problem in the community, but there was no useful response.I'll make a video later to tell you what I'm talking about.

Adobe Camera Raw is crashing after not releasing system Ram or GPU Ram back to the the operating system (Win 10).

This happens both with Ram on the motherboard (32GB) and with GPU RAM (8GB). If i turn off GPU acceleration then the system RAM will gradually fill up until the system becomes unstable. This can be reproduced easily and with 100% success when using AI operations such as Blur and Mask within Camera RAW. I can usually edit between four and five images before encountering issues and error messages. When i have GPU acceleration enabled then i get the same issue with memory leak, this time on the GPU (3060ti 8GB).

I have no issues using Topaz Denoise on this system and GPU. Once an operation is carried out Topaz releases the GPU RAM back to the system. This is an Adobe issue.

I have followed the troubleshooting on the website (https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/acr-gpu-faq.html) with no success. I have even rolled back to previous versions with limited success (it seems to solve the system Ram Leak). I am currently on the latest version of PS (Version 25.9.1) and Camera RAW (Version 16.3.1.1889) and have the latest Nvidia Studio driver installed (555.99). This memory leak issue seems to coincide with the latest release of PS as i had not encountered these issues previously.

An acknowledgment that Adobe are aware of an issue and are working on it would go a long way.

I can find multiple posts on this subject from PS and LR users. I know the workaround is to restart Photoshop after editing a RAW file in Camera Raw but this seems like a poor solution to the problem especially if i want to work on more than a handful of files per session.

You have dual graphics, with an Intel HD 530 that may be causing conflicts.

I can't reproduce any memory leaks here. I have seen a few reports about this (mostly from Lightroom), so I don't doubt that it's a real issue, but it doesn't affect everyone. Of course, that only makes it more difficult to get to the bottom of.

Thanks, i appreciate the response, I'll disable integrated graphics and see if it helps. Currently installing Camera Raw 16.1 as it seemed to resolve the issue for some.

I have not tried to reset Camaera Raw but will do this. Also, The system info that I sent you was with a new monitor that I am trying from Best Buy in the last week but the error message happened with this monitor as well as my previous monitor. If you want, I can resend the system info with the previous monitor. It is an easy switchout (for my husband) LOL

Your system info looks fine, the only thing that I can suggest is to reinstall the Nvidia driver, when downloading select the Studio driver rather than the Game Ready one
