This is revolting; I pay monthly for Photoshop, and now I'm forced to see an ad for the Amazon Rings of Power series every time I open it?
This is a disservice to the consumer; what is the next step? having to see a 30-second ad in order to save a file?
Partnership, ad, cross-promotional opportunity… call it what you like. Adobe is giving a nod to several artists from various walks of life who created assets for Amazon Prime's LotR TV series. Who commissioned who is not immediately clear, but it seems rather innocuous to me. On the other hand, as the show claims, “Nothing is evil in the beginning…”
Here is a way to disable the splash screen from the shortcut icon. Another option is to click open and shut your eyes for a count of about 15 seco

Personally the splash screens don’t seem worth getting worked up about to me but you are not alone in being annoyed …

I've used Adobe products since even before they bought PageMaker and have never been bothered before but I can't stand some psycho staring at me every time I open the program.
I really thought I was onto something with the cute kittens though 🙂

Normally the screen for the beta edition has a blue texture but in the case of Photoshop they have an image of their founder. For what it's worth, he's not looking at you.

She is the founder???? I somehow doubt it.

You have to load the Beta version. Please let us know if you need assistance.

Thanks. Just checked, I have the latest updates - using the Creative Cloud edition.

You can always access the next beta. Open up The creative Cloud Desktop and on the left side you will find CATEGORIES. Look in that column for BETA APPS. That opens up the window for the current betas. Search for Photoshop and install.

Photoshop>About Photoshop (windows Ctrl while clicking Help>About Photoshop)

Try improving your systems performance, the screen dissapears very quickly on a fast machine.

It's driving me NUTS having to look at that digital face every time I open Photoshop!! Put something abstract back there, at least something that's not annoying. Kittens or something 🙂
By @FloridaGal
Kittens? That will drive my dogs crazy… 😄

Agreed. This has to stop. Don't want splash screen to represent every idiot film franchise that can pony up a million dollars and hand it to Adobe. Use member created content maybe?

I see the same thing every day and it hasn't been an issue. Maybe I'm not understanding, do you think you can further explain how this negatively affects the functionality of the program?

Personally, I'm not really into modern art, however, for a splash screen, I much prefer an abstract pattern than an image/illustration – as boring as that may be to some. This was even before the current "inspired by" artwork appeared.

Seems my reply to @Hunter_PackHealth doesn’t register.
I wanted to know where they got the information about a payment for the splash screen-placement.

It is just the opening screen as it loads the software. It looked the same as the othe pictures it has had in the past. I do not see it as a bother.

I don't do business with Amazon, therefore I have no idea what in the name of baby Jeebus you are ranting about. This is not a technical problem.

Edit:
My previous three posts of similar content were owed to the page not displaying new posts for a while here (not sure if the issue was on my end or with the Forum) …

Yeah exactly what I was thinking too. I love Lord of the Rings, read all of the books when I was a kid, love the films. This Amazon show has looked to be terrible from the get go so I will be avoiding it like the plague. To then have it thrown in my face every time I want to do something creative is annoying to say the least.

`call it what you like`
Fine, I'll call it shameless media whoring and a disrespect to your loyal (albeit trapped) customer base. Then again, the farmer doesn't really care what the cows think, so yeah.
Well it would be shameless were Adobe capable of feeling shame. As a long-suffering Illustrator user, I know that isn't the case.

I think is really cool... and it took me a while to even notice that they were.
It is a really creative collaboration.
If a splash screen bothers you that much... then you have more to worry about. Especially since it is way less than 30 seconds.
Personally, if Adobe did this in-house it is cool, if it was an agency with the idea... also cool. And it will only be a limited time. So do not get your feathers ruffled.
Also at MAX, you will get all new splash screens anyways.

Also, they chose the artists most likely. Which is also nice. Some of us do create fan art from time to time.

To me, none of the arguments presented in this thread are relevant:
Just not on the splash screen! What I object to is the repeated exposure, ten or fifteen times a day, and right at the very moment when you're 100% focused on what happens on screen. Ignore it? Good luck.
We've discussed this before, and I seem to have problems getting a certain point across: there's a huge difference beteen seeing an image once or twice, and having it repeatedly pushed in your face when you least want it.
An image will have to be incredibly good to hold up to that. So far, none of them are.
I have a mind to put this up in either "bugs" or "ideas", to make it clear that this is a serious heartfelt request. Just haven't decided which. A lot of us don't want this.
Oh, BTW, the "-NoSplash" trick only works when launching the application cold from the taskbar. It does not work when launching the app by opening a document (which is what I do all the time).

It's clearly not a bug so put it in ideas and let's vote. Hopefully there will be more votes than comments! :]
My preference is for abstract patterns over photos or illustrations etc.
