After installing the new Photoshop 2020 on my Wacom Companion 2, turns out the pen pressure is NOT WORKING at all. However the previous versions (20.0.6 and 19.1.6) still work perfectly with the pen pressure.
Has anyone run into that issue ?
{Thread renamed by moderator}
I have the same proplem ... version 20.0.8 worked just fine.
Win 10
Found solution:
create a file in "C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2020\Adobe Photoshop 2020 Settings"
called
PSUserConfig.txt
with this text
# Use WinTab
UseSystemStylus 0
Update : With 21.2.2 you may need to remove the PSUserConfig.txt file
The latest versions are designed to work with Windows Ink and Adobe have made improvements in that area, many of the old bugs have been addressed. I've used Windows Ink here for the last year.
Remove the PSUserConfig.txt file and in Wacom tablet properties check Windows Ink.

Erik--H, you'll need a separate Ps Application added in Wacom Tablet Properties. Same as "All Others". And then on "All Others" go to Mapping and uncheck "Use WIndows Ink"

Thanks for the tip Karmalakas, unfortunately that only partly addresses the issue. I'm still getting the 'Alt' graphic popup when resizing my brush with Alt+RMB as soon as I remove the PSUserConfig in 21.2.2.
Also it takes a second for the Windows Ink feature to turn off when moving from Photoshop to say Chrome and vice versa. So when I go back to Photoshop from Chrome there's a short lag. For example going back to Photoshop the Windows Ink ring is visible (with the Press and Hold feature disabled) for a second when resizing the brush using the Alt+RMB until the Wacom Photoshop Windows Ink settings kick in.
Yet again I'll have to revert back to a previous version and reinstall my old settings. I couldn't help my curiousity to see if your tip worked with the latest version 21.2.2. Back to 21.2.1 and the PSUserConfig.

For #3. I'm assigning a middle click to one of the wacom buttons which is necessary for most 3d applications.
#4. I just tried what was described in the link about disabling the press and hold option which I remember having to do back in CS6 days, unfortunately that only halfway works. Within the Photoshop workspace, there are no rings, outside of the workspace, the RMB rings still exist.
Another issue:
#5. I just noticed I'm also unable to highlight browser text with my Wacom pen when Windows Ink is enabled, with or without Press and Hold enabled.
By @Erik--H
@erik-homma According to Wacom, this was a Wacom software bug that they resolved in their fall driver launch. Can you confirm that Erik?

Hello everybody. Just to clarify :
We are used to turn of Windows Ink systematicaly when using a Pen Tablet because it causes a lot of issues. (Wacom and other brands)
When windows Ink is ON :
1-There is a 1 second delay with every new clic and drag before the cursor catches up with the stylus. It happens when dragging a window, using a slider to adjust a value (in photoshop or any other app), resizing a layer, and even when drawing. So the begining of each new stroke will freeze for 1 sec before catching up to the movement of the stylus. You can imagine the hell it can be when hatching, or doing fast repetitive movements.
2-Certain applications, like Chrome for exemple, don't respond to the stylus for certain things. You can't move the chrome window around at all when windows ink is enabled. You can't drag and drop email in your inbox from one tab to another, some clics or double clics aren't registered at all ...etc.
3-Windows Pen & Stylus fonctionnalites are working against a fluid use of a Stylus. Especially the infamous "Press and hold" setting, that needs to be disabled systematically if you don't want this "mouse freezing blue circle of death" to appear each time you stop moving your hand for more than half of a second. (I suspect this functionnality to be responsible for the lag before each new stroke, even when you have it turned off)
4-Just while typing this post, I've discoverd a new issue. With Windows Ink enabled, it is impossible to select text by dragging over it with the stylus. I had to drop it and use my mouse each time I wanted to edit a sentence.
These are all the reasons (I can think of right now) why we have no choice but to disable Windows Ink, and use the WinTab alternative to get the pressure sensitivity back in Photoshop.
I'm assuming that everyone would love to use regular settings, and not to have to tamper with this kind of work around every time, but unfortunatly that is not possible.
I'm also having the issue of not being able to get pressure sensitivity back in Photoshop with the PSUserconfig.txt trick since the last update. And I hope you now understand why enabling Windows Ink is not a fix.
Again, using the PSUserConfig trick is not a choice, it is essential for a proper workflow.
I'm currently paying for the full Adobe suite, and not being able to work properly is a big issue right now.
Not knowing when this will be resolved is very worrisome.
PS: "Windows Ink" or "Pen and Touch" drivers on Windows, are currently pushing for touch and tablet functionnalities. These are cumbersome and unfit for any professional Stylus use.

This forum is mainly answered by volunteer users, we don't work for Adobe.
If you are having issues with Windows Ink (or have reasons why Wintab is better) then you need to post them where Adobe developers will see them :

So, I have tried the following:
1) Reset my Desktop
2) Uninstalled/Reinstalled Wacom Drivers
3) Save PSUserConfig.txt in the C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2020\Adobe Photoshop 2020 Settings
4) Uninstalled/Reinstalled Photoshop
Pressure Sensitivity is still not functional in Photoshop. This is unfortunate because everything was working prior to the latest update to Photoshop. This is also the 2nd thing that has now become broken with this program.
The Rotation tool is also rendered nonfunctional.
Please help.

Disabled Windows Ink, rollback from PS 21.2.2 to PS 21.2.1 (Windows 10 v.1809) and WinTab works perfect with config file

By the way, I've done the same - reverted PS to ver. 21.2.1
So, the pen pressure came back, but... unexpectedly some other strange bugs appeared. I can't systemize them... sometimes dropper doesn't work, sometimes pan tool, sometimes lags happen... etc. Only restarting Photoshop fixes those bugs.
Moreover, when reinstalling PS to previous version all my settings, brushes, actions, styles... all was set to zero! Why couldn't Adobe Photoshop keep my preferences whilst that operation - incomprehensible! So, I was forced to repair my prefs by copy-pasting from the previous version's folders! It really enrages!

Auto installed the latest PS update yesterday (21.2.2) and surprise surprise, nothing but issues. No pen pressure, crashing on file open, ,slow, freezing . I reinstall everything twice including drivers...no change. A day later after constant crashes and loss of pen pressure, I realize the cause. Uninstall latest version, then install the oldest version in the cloud (20.0.10). finally back to work... thanks for nothing Adobe

So did you follow the instructions in this, and other, threads to enable Windows Ink and remove PSUserConfig.txt the restart Photoshop?

I'm also still having this problem! I followed the directions Weigajan gave.
Last time this happened I was able to fix it but this time it's not working. Why does this issue keep happening?

If Adobe cared, such a huge change wouldn't have been made as a patch, but rather as a major or at least a minor release. They just didn't care if it would ruin all workflow for Wacom users on Windows. Also, if they at least pretended they care after such a huge fail, they would've rolled back their code to the previous version and pushed that as a new patch. That would've taken max 1 hour, but they just don't care.
My guess is, they will never give back the PSUserConfig.txt fix as a solution and they will try to just fix Windows Ink compatibility. And my guess is, this will take at least half a year.

You'll be happily proved incorrect in many of these statements.

Then why didn't you rollback days ago, when everything with Wacoms on Windows got messed up? There's simply no way to use Ps anymore unless you downgrade to previous version and doing that removes all your settings, which also is a breaker. That's not the way to treat paying customers.

Has there been a solution yet? It's been like over a week since I've been unable to do any work on my personal computer. Photoshop works on my work comp but I can't do everything on there. Again I've done everything posted.

Right now the only solution is to revert back to the previous version of photoshop in creative cloud (and disable auto update).
Just be carefull before you do, it will erase your preferences, so back them up.

My intuos pro M pen pressure does not work in photoshop latest version on pc, using windows 10. Installed all the ps config file as mentioned, and fixed all other recommendations here but no joy.
If I use my Wacom pen tablet in affinity photo the pen pressure is fine!So the problem seems to be in photoshop....
Regards, and Adobe you are an expensive program I expect this kind of issue to be fixed soon, too many are struggling.
