Photoshop 2024 25.4.0.319 Problems

Somehow I assume I have done something to screw up Photoshop 2024 25.4.0.319.  Is there a reset buttom to return the program to its original state and what would that entail?  Would I have to re-install all my plugins?

Anyway, about 10 days ago or so, I noticed that my panel on the far right was not what it has always been. Even though Layers was turned on under the Windows menu, it was stuck at the bottom of the panel and I had to double-click on it to get it properly set and open in the panel. Additionally, each Layer when click on in the main screen, lights up with brackets and they become almost impossible to close. Why?  Because when you click on another area of the screen another Layer lights up, etc., etc. This has also never happened before.  I hope this makes sense?

Can anyone help me?  TIA.

@Stu32314935j7it first thing to try is resetting the workspace

If that doesn't help try manually resetting your Photoshop preferences

Remember to backup your settings before doing the preference reset

Thank you Ged, the manual resetting was simple enough and seems to have solved my problem totally. Thanks a million, very much appreciated.
