Photoshop can't open its own PSD files !

Photoshop is driving me mad.
It does not open its own PSD files.
Please see attachment.
In order to open PSD files on my computer I have to open them on the on-line "photoshop-like" software "Photopea", then save the file from there on PSD and open it.

Problem is, as soon as I save it again on my computer, I CAN NOT OPEN the PSD file again !!!
So I'm forced to re-do that process through Photopea again, and again, and again....

I've tried saving the PSD file with nothing visible, and it still does the same problem.
I'm using the latest version of Photoshop, I'm on a CreativeCloud subscription, Mac OS.
Anyone knows how to fix this ? Please help !

From Mac Finder, what is the file size of the PSD file you're trying to open?

Does your computer meet current Creative Cloud & Photoshop system requirements?

I tried to reset everything many times.
When I click on "Learn how to fix" it sends on me an Adobe website which has nothing to do with it.

Can you uninstall 2026 and try reinstalling 2025?

I use to have the same problem with 2025....
...it's really annoying, so much so I'm starting to look for a serious PS alternative.

@Fnc21 restarted PS and your Mac?

What does it say when you click learn to fix?

Hi Kevin,
Yes, I'm saving with Maximize PS Comatibility turned to "Always" and I've given Full Disk Access to PS.
Files are saved to my HD, no other sync services involved.

@Fnc21 First, in Photoshop Settings/File Handling are you saving with Maximize Photoshop Compatibility turned to "Always"?

Second, in Mac OS System Settings/Security have you given Photoshop Full Disk Access?

Last, are you saving these files local HD originally? Do you have a sync service like Dropbox or OneDrive running?
