I have just installed the update for Photoshop CC 2017.  Using Bridge to process the Raw file, Photoshop then opens and when the Photoshop screen appears, the notation "Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 has stopped working. Program then closes.  Uninstalled Photoshop and then re-installed, but same problem arose.

I tracked down an XML file from the update buy do not know how to add that to this discussion,

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Please refer the article below to solve this issue Photoshop crashes with Lavasoft Chrome extension installed

You may also simply rename the file LavasoftTcpService64.dll to Old.LavasoftTcpService64.dll located :-C:\Windows\system32\LavasoftTcpService64.dll and that should fix the problem.

The same issue was happening in Bridge, and I assume other adobe products. So I just went for the simple computer restart and that solved the issues with PS and Bridge. It might help if future versions of Adobe software first installs required the user to restart their computer before using the software.

I did restart my system after installing Photoshop CC 2017, but then encountered the problem.  This issues is probably a bit more complex than it appears on the surface. What got my installation running the first time was disabling the LavaSoft dll.  Photoshop would run but eventually I tried printing and there was an issues with my network printing from this machine -- no printers were available and Windows gave me an error message about a service not running.  I eventually put the "~" in front of the Spaces folder in Photoshop and enabled the LavaSoft dll.  That's where I'm right now and everything, including printing is working fine.  At some point I'll take the "~" off the Spaces folder and see if the problem returns.  Which ever way it goes at that point will either provide conclusive evidence or add to the mystery.  I hate self healing software problems.

Not only did this clear up my Photoshop startup issues, it also cleared up my Illustrator startup issue as well!

Thanks. Great tip.

I should add that my problem was that Photoshop would not start, and also Illustrator would start but not operate correctly and then freeze. The following solution fixed both:

You may also simply rename the file LavasoftTcpService64.dll to Old.LavasoftTcpService64.dll located :-C:\Windows\system32\LavasoftTcpService64.dll and that should fix the problem.

Chome and fileZilla no longer works with a Old.LavasoftTcpService64.dll.

Tilda symbol ~ on Spaces folder works for me!

This caused things like my Start menu and Wi-Fi to stop working after restarting (WIn10) so I had to rename back. Placing a ~ in front of the Spaces folder as reported below is working with no issues so far.

the actual dll says it cannot be deleted "because it is running in host." Whatever that means: but I uninstalled the Lavasoft WebAssistant program (part of AdAware I think) and Photoshop loads fine. Thanks for the tip

When you delete the Lavasoft dll you may find that other things don’t work. In my case it killed my network printing. You may find that the best solution is to put a ` in front of the Spaces directory. See earlier post for the path.

Put a ~ in front of the Photoshop folder "Spaces". You'll find the full path mentioned in a previous entry in this discussion thread.

Changing the name of the Lavasoft file and adding the ~ fixed the issue with Photoshop. But now AE crashes when it previously opened up fine after a clean installation. Had spent hours in chat with Adobe support over the issues with AE and will no doubt spend hours with them again.

As a new CC subscriber and a beginner, I find this very unsatisfactory. Have already lost about half of this month's subscription trying to help Adobe to help me.
