Question

photoshop cc 2018 not recognizing installed fonts

After updating photoshop to the latest update a couple weeks ago many fonts were missing. I renamed the CT Font Cache folder to OLD_CT Font Cache folder then restarted photoshop and the problem was solved. But now, photoshop is still not recognizing all the fonts installed on my system. Specifically stencilstd font. So I downloaded it, reinstalled it, and restarted the computer and then loaded photoshop ( I did this twice) and still no stencilstd font. Is there some way to FORCE photoshop to recognize this font? This is really starting to make me mad! Someone please help!

Hi joeh,

You may try resetting the Photoshop preferences back to defaults and check if that helps also 3rd party fonts does cause such issues with Photoshop application. You can remove the fonts which are causing this issue.

Thanks for trying to help. Unfortunately it didn't help to reset the preferences. All that did was mess up everything I had set without making photoshop recogonize the all of the installed system fonts. Now when I type some text and then go to the move tool I can only move the text with it, can't transform it unless I go to the menu and choose transform from the menu. Before all I had to do was click on the move tool and it was automatic. Not sure how to get that back. But thanks anyway for trying to help. I do appreciate that!

Update: I forgot to check the auto select and show transform controls checkboxes.
