Any idea for the delay in Photoshop 27.0 or LrC. Has been almost 30 days since last update. Interested in the next major revision. How can Adobe take a product like PS or LrC to another level. Wow!
If they follow the pattern of the last several years, the next major update for many Creative Cloud apps might be released during the annual Adobe MAX conference. For this year, Adobe MAX is scheduled for October 28-30, and in past years major upgrades were rolled out during the Opening Keynote presentation on the first day of the conference.
As for what will be new, again if the past is any indication, you can already preview and help test many of the possible features by trying the Photoshop public beta

Is there any particular problem you expect a new version to solve?

No, only would like to see the new features. Not sure how they can make any real major changes in an app which always seems to raise the bar for others.

Note the “Top features” list on that linked page. Any feature in the beta that is not in the current regular release might be finalized at MAX, but it can depend on if they think the new features are stable enough to make it out of beta testing.

Yes, I was use to the October release in the past years. Was surprised when they released in Sep. Since Adobe has not released any updates this month, with one week to go are they planning the same surprise. I also find it a little surprising when they release in Public Beta only after releasing in the full version. I believe they did this with Harmonize filter recently.

As Conrad said, the new releases are typically on the first day of Adobe MAX. The date changes from year to year, but is usually in the autumn. We don't know if Adobe will release updates early, as they do not tell us.

I have a feeling that the early major update of the release version that tiome was because they were getting left behind by the sudden, huge, increase in Ai tools from companies like Dall E and chatGTP etc. There was a chance that if users got a head start with competing apps, they would stay with them.
I'm hoping that the pattern returns to MAX (about the time that the Sneak Peeks session goes live). It was so exciting, and making all us grown ups feel like kids at Christmas.
Do you use the beta version? It has been going crazy just recently with updates several times a week.

Trevor;
Yes, I have been using the Beta vesrsion for a while now. Competition is healthy. Keeps everyone on the edge. However, for many I believe Adobe is the clear winner in Ai tools for image creation and editing.

This is the new Creative Cloud release notes. Not sure when this will be released though. The last release notes are from April. However, my CC version is 6.7.0.278. This version must have been a bridge between versions with minor changes. However, Adobe website shows several release notes in 2024 and only a Jan and April of this year.
