Photoshop to Luminar 4 (or Neo or AI) - TIFF and PSD Image file not opening

I've been using Skylum's Luminar software for about 5 years. Typically, I'd use it as a filter in PS (and often ran it as part of an action). Two days ago, everything worked as usual. As of yesterday, I can no longer open a tiff, raw or psd files via PS in any of the Luminar programs. The program opens, but the image file does not load. I hadn't updated anything (Windows PC, Luminar or PS) from the time it was working to the time it stopped. To make it more strange, jpg's will open from PS (and from the standalone Luminar program). Raw files won't open via PS but will open from the standalone Luminar program.

Since then to troubleshoot, I've done everything I can think of (unistalling and reinstalling PS, Luminar). I've disabled virus software. I've rolled back all of the software. I've made sure the latest software (including Windows and my graphics driver) were all up to date. I've even upgraded Windows from 10 to 11 - hoping that a system file was the culprit and it would resolve the issue. I've checked the same procedure on another computer and everything works fine.

I'm at a loss and the support people at Skylum (based in Ukraine) haven't offered a fix.

Any suggestions? I'm a full-time portrait and school photographer and my workflow includes batch processing school yearbook photos with a couple of the features included in Luminar 4 that I'd hate to have to do without.

Good afternoon friends...

I think I can say that I bring the solution to our problem, finally!!

The problem is in the X-Rite calibrator software, i1Profiler.

I have completely uninstalled the most updated version and Luminar Neo works.

I installed a version from January of this year of i1Profiler, and it works.

I invite you to try it and be happy, as I have done.

A big hug from Madrid.

Yessss, WSheehey, I already had anxiety about this problem; I have jumped out of the chair when it worked, jjj.
I leave you the link to the version of i1Profiler that does not interfere with Luminar Neo (I have not tried a more recent one, but this one works for me):

Thank you!  I've been working with Skylum on this for hours.  How on Earth did you find your way to it being Xrite?

Best,

David

Hello, David…

I spent two months exchanging emails with them, trying everything, until they themselves told me to try this.

Best,

Jose

You are the BEST! You win the internet today! This worked. I haven't tried to install the older version of i1Profiler yet, but I will shortly. Deleted the program and both Luminar Neo and Luminar 4 are working again! Someone needs to share this with XRite and Skylum. Thanks again for the solution - you've saved me a lot of trouble.

THANK YOU KAKO 🙂

Today is a good day to be a Photographer! I downgraded i1Profiler to v. 3.6.1, and it all worked again in Luminar Neo, which by the way came with a new update this morning!  🙂  (still work)

Unfortunately we don't have the gamut-viewer, and the ability to find the best Pantone match in i1Profiler with this version, but what the hell, they should come up with something that doesn't conflict with other software!

I will encourage all of us in here to report this insane issue to both Skylum and X-Rite customer support!

Have a nice weekend all of You

Gert

Skylum and X-Rite are already in talks to resolve the incompatibility, gertl18670298, but it is true that those of us who have Neo in our workflow have spent two months in hell.
You can try, however, to install a more recent version, not the latest, of i1Profiler, in case everything works for you 😉

Thanks for sharing the latest!

Some claim that we put a man on the moon in 1969, so that Skylum in 2023 can't come up with a solution to this problem, is unbelieveable!

They've had me do all of the above - and it's still not working. I'm noticing more posts regarding this same failure on other forums and groups. It's too bad that they can't get ahead of this problem at Skylum. It must be tough to be operating a company out of Ukraine. I hope these issues won't ruin them.

Good morning friends...
I continue with our fight and this is becoming a real headache.
I am still in conversations with Skylum and doing everything they ask of me:
-Disconnect my second monitor.
-Disable Graphics Processor in Luminar Neo.
-Uninstall my graphics card in safe mode with Guru3D.
-Delete the Luminar Catalog Folder cache folder.
-Tested in several different versions of Photoshop (This doesn't matter because Luminar Neo doesn't open the images as an independent program either).
-I have sent them the same original Tif and jpg files that do not display in Luminar Neo and they tell me that they open and display fine.
-They sent me the .8bf plugins separately and it hasn't worked either.

Anyway, I don't want to bore you with all the things I've been doing, guided by Skylum, in the last month, but in case it serves as information to anyone.
I will continue to report, but I don't like this at all; It has totally broken my workflow and is slowing me down.

All the best.

Hi WSheehey

When I try to adjust one of the samples in Luminar Neo, and using any slider, the program crashes, and the Windows log says it has to do with:

KERNELBASE.dll, version: 10.0.19041.3393

When I try to open a tif file of my own, the window stays black, and then the Windows log says:

Description: A .NET Core application failed.
Application: CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess.exe
Path: C:\Program Files\Skylum\Luminar Neo\CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess.exe
Message: Cannot use file stream for [C:\Program Files\Skylum\Luminar Neo\CefSharp.BrowserSubprocess.deps.json]: No such file or directory

Regard

Gert

That's interesting. Neo works on my laptop, but both the laptop and the desktop (where all Luminar software products don't work) both have updated Nvidia drivers. The laptop has a RTX3080 GPU and the desktop has a EVGA RTX3090 FTW3 card. When I look at what's happening to make Luminar fail in the Event Viewer, it always points to a kernel based issue. I'd be curious to know if that is what you're seeing as well.
