Photoshop tool icons are missing

Recenlty my Photoshop tool icons simply do not appear on the toolbar. they function fine but it is troublesome to find the right tool. The only way I could solve this is to reinstall photoshop but I cannot possibly do that every day.

I managed to resolve this by resetting my Photoshop cache and resetting preferences. It is strange that I would have to do that to restore a basic function of this subscription based program I am systemically paying for but boy do I hope Adobe is happy.

Wait, nope, it happened again. Changing Windows Scaling did not work, and now uninstalling and installing does not work either. Methinks the time to end Adobe Subscription is at hand

Not a fix I'm afraid, just wanted to say that I've had exactly the same issue and, for the moment, rolling back to the previous version of PS before the latest update has sorted it (so I'm using 24.5 rather than 24.6). Obviously not a permanent solution, but until one works (have tried those suggested here and elsewhere, with no lasting effects), it is at least an awful lot easier to work with visible icons on the toolbar.

This definitely is a bug. Shut it down, restarted, they showed up, yet they were not there this morning. I have Cloud Services panel open too. Perhaps that made a difference. This has been a problem since the latest update.

Kennt jemand dieses Problem? Die Werkzeug Icons werden nicht mehr angezeigt. Sie fehlen bei jedem Start von Photoshop. Wechsle ich dann den Hintergrund von hell auf dunkel oder von dunkel auf Hell, erscheinen sie wieder.

Does anyone know this problem? The tool icons are no longer displayed. They are missing every time I start Photoshop. If I then change the background from light to dark or from dark to light, they reappear.

What version of Photoshop are you working on? Moving this to discussions for now.

Try this:

• Go to the following location on Windows 10/11: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/UXP/PluginsStorage/PHSP
• Press Windows + R & type this is the Run Window - %APPDATA%\Adobe\UXP\PluginsStorage
  
  
  
• In the PHSP Folder, rename the 24 folder by adding a .old at the end. ('24' > Rename > '24.old')

These changes will give a refresh to panels in Photoshop. Let me know how it goes.

I am having the same problem

If I open the pluginStorage folder in the Adobe App in Adobe/UXP and add a ~ to the 24 folder, it will show the icons again for about 1 day.  After that, Adobe creates a new 24 folder and to make it work I remove the ~24 folder and rename the new one.

I just did the latest update on Feb 23 2024 and the smae problem occurs - it seems to occur with most PS  updates ? why is that ? At least I came across this fix. Now I also have to resolve why with the LR update when  i  go to Edit in Photoshop I can only open as a Smart Object. It is also impossible to open more that one file and certainly not in layers. Again this happen to most LR updates
