Question

Print size is smaller than image on screen

I am having trouble printing an image to the dimensions I specified (7-inch wide x 5-inch high) and to what I see on my monitor. The printed image dimensions are 6.19 wide x 4.44 high.  This problem also exists for an 8 x 10 photo.  In the past Adobe Photoshop versions, I had not encountered this problem.  Attached are screenshots of various settings.  I'm placing each 5 x 7 image on an 8.5 x 11 sheet. Selecting all, then pasting it on another 8.5 x 11 sheet so I can have two 5 x 7 photos on one sheet.  See the five screenshot attachments for the information shown below.

Screen photo actual width size (7")

Print actual width size (6.19")

Screen photo actual height size (5")

Print actual height size (4.44")

Transparent Canvas size (11" x 8-1/2")

Epson P800 Printing setting (100%, 11" x 8-1/2") and not scaled to fit media

Image Resolution 300 pixels/inch

Screen Image Dimension (2100 x 1500)

Image File Size 9.01M

Photoshop (V.24.7.0)

Note: the screen ruler shows the correct width on the screen, but when I view to actual size and measure with a ruler, the image width is smaller.

Davescm (Dave), sorry for the delay, but your response was dead on!  I unclicked the "Reduce/Enlarge - Fit to Page," and now my prints measure correctly.  Thank You!

Hi

In the Epson driver - (you have labelled Epson Layout) you have Reduce/Enlarge -Fit to Page checked. Uncheck that and try your print again.

The separate problem of the Actual Size on screen not measuring exactly to a ruler is caused by the operating system not passing through the screen pixel density for your monitor correctly (I have the same issue here on Windows 11 using Eizo monitors). It is easily worked around by going to Preferences - Units & Rulers and entering your actual screen resolution (ppi) manually. For example, my 27" Eizo's are 109ppi. Then use View - Print Size which uses that manual entry rather than the operating system's number.
