Problem scaling in proportion

Photoshop 101, lesson 1:  If you want to maintain proportions when re-scaling an object, Ctrl+T to transform, hold the shift key, grab a corner and drag.  However, now, holding the shift key does not maintain proportions.  Any inexact hand movement distorts the object.  Any idea why this is occurring?

You no longer need to hold down the shift key. Just Ctrl+T, then drag from any edge and it will scale proportionally.

Then hit return key or click anywhere outside of what you are sizing to commit the change.

Hi

The transform method was changed to hold the shift when you don't want proportional.

However, should you prefer the old way, since 20.0.5 released this week you can revert the behaviour with Preferences > General >Use Legacy Free Transform
