Random diagonal lines created when using clone tool or eraser in Photoshop

Hi,

I wondered if someone can shed any light on why, when using the clone tool or eraser, random diagonal lines shoot off to the edge of the image as you can see below? I don't recall ticking any box, but it is quite annoying and would like to turn this off. Can anyone assist please?

I fine using WinTab API for pen support with Photoshop 2020 version 21.1.0 with Wacom pen. That pen rocker button can triggers this bug to bite even if you configure the buttons to be disabled.  Using Windows INK API  the Bug does not bite but you may have some issued with Windows INK usage.  You can go back to version 21.0.3

Thanks very much, I did try searching for an answer before I posted but couldn't find anything - obviously wasn't looking hard enough! I appreciate the reply.
